Guys relax, I'm pretty sure it was Yoda that said "Care, you do not. The hate runs deep with this sound." ...or something like that.
Anyways, I know there are many track junkies here (much respect to Joe), but even if the 718 was 5 seconds faster, that's not what registers with me. As all cars sadly migrate in the direction of PDK/turbos and then later toward hybrid/electric, cars should continue to get faster and more efficient. There will always be another car that is faster.
To me, its the sound of that flat-6 that makes this battle a clear one-sided affair.

Your reasoning is correct, but the reality is that the manual transmission is the blue line and pdk is red. This is why I roll my eyes when people say that pdk gains 1/2 a car length per shift. Just not true. In this data sample, the manual appears to accelerate quicker.

Is something wrong with the Porscheusa.com 911 configuration tool? It won't let me select MT with the Premium Package and the "Sport Package with i.c.w. Manual Transmission". Looks like the i.c.w option is meant for the MT option but things get a bit whacky when I add Premium as well. Any reason the Premium would not be available with MT? Or, is this just a bug with the tool?

Is the torque curve for the Premium package beyond Porsches view of what the 6MT is ratedsfor?
