Forgive me, but i may have missed you saying so in the thread, but have you test driven both the 997 GT3 and the GT4?

I was similarly in your position 4 months ago. Looking to spend ~$100k, and basically came down to a mid/high mileage 997.2 GT3 or a low-ish mileage GT4. I was fortunate enough to drive one of each on consecutive days, so the comparison was fresh in mind.

This is a GT4 subforum, so I don't want to devolve into another versus thread. But I encourage you test driving both if you haven't done so. They are somewhat different beasts, so to speak.

I ultimately made the decision I did, and very happy. Given what you are about to spend, I would make sure "what if" doesn't give some buyers remorse after the fact.

I actually have been able to drive both and understand they are different cars. I've also done a day at the Porsche Performance Driving School and drove the different platforms. I like with the Cayman that I can tell where all four corners of the car is and it felt a little more nimble. That and a car under warranty is a plus.

Would I trade my GT4 straight up for a low mileage 997 GT3??? Wow!!!- this would be interesting!!.

I do not track so would have to drive them side-by-side on the street. Which, would be fun

But - if the next GT3 will come with a Manual it would not matter. There is no way I would want a 997 GT3 if I can have a 991.2 GT3 with a manual.

Can always keep the GT4 and the 991.2.

What I am saying is the GT4 is a different experience and is some what unique right now.

many ppl decided that's that their car
some speculators getting caught with pants down
it will stablize and may move up after 991.2gt3
the delta in $ b/n 4 and 3 is not small.
many ppl think they will get 991.2gt3 allocation... perhaps should think again. the early allocation are hard to come by and usually at premium so the delta is $ is even bigger.
many buying 991.2gt3 doesn't need or want to sell GT4

nevertheless those are just my guesses and it will be fun watching from the sidelines.

Living with my 10 GT3 and the clutch in traffic was not my idea of fun. The 15 GT3 solved that problem but I needed to be in the upper rev range to have fun. The GT4 kind of slots in the middle. It's fun around town and I find it to be fun on track. It isn't going to replace the 9000 rpm sound and shifts of the 991 GT3. Maybe a 991.2 GT3 manual with the DLC problems sorted out will be a better car.
Right now I'm happy with the GT4.

Right now I'm happy with the GT4.
I agree here. Loved the RS's raw performance and aggressiveness..sgl mass flywheel chatter, etc. But the GT4 scratches that itch without having my left quad be twice the size as my right from the heavy clutch.

i am in line for one.

I must agree that PDK-S, really impressed me when I spent some time in an RS this past summer... Although I am not fast enough around a circuit in order to make use of it.

Its nice to be in a thread where people exchange friendly chat and just share their experiences with various models.

At one point while reading I couldn't remember that I was in the GT4 forum and that put a smile on my face.

I just purchased a black on black stripper with no options and 3000 miles for $85K from Porsche St. Louis. I couldn't be happier to know it has zero options. I don't care about LWB's or full leather, etc. I plan to track the car and drive it in a way it was meant for.

I also own a 2016 Cayman GTS that I ordered and is a high spec build. That car has all the goodies for a nice weekend cruiser.

The GT4 though? Nothing on it. I love it!
