Nah, if that were the case why would my Porsche dealer send a driver out to motor the car back to the shop? Are you worried you're gonna damage the transmission? It's being replaced !!!

Depending on how spirited the car has been driven, you might consider a clutch replacement whilst everything is unbolted. I did and essentially saved the cost of labor.

Good luck.

There were real stories here on RL that spoke about serious issues, starting with the tranny but not ending there.

Quick update - Kings Porsche in Cincinnati took care of me - though took a little while to get the transmission. All covered under warranty. I put in a new clutch as no labor charge while car apart. Couldn't be happier with the service and support!

Anything is possible. CarFax is far from infallible. It's only as good as the data it's provided.

Default 2nd gear grind

Username - yak52pilot

Date of manufacture - circa 2021

Total miles - 16000

Number of track days - all but break in

Estimated track miles - 14000

The failed gear - 2nd gear started grinding on pick up. Dealer blamed clutch, but clutch turned out fine - so they replaced transmission. Zero issues and free of charge.

Brief recount of the failure - drove fine but occasionally grinds in 2nd

Tires - cup2

Other relevant info - stock except for alignment

Are you saying you have a 718 GT4 with a failed transmission (3rd gear)?

I thought the failures were limited to 981s built between Nov/Dec 2015 and Sept 2016.
