my drug $ goes to porsche and live music these days... downsized the system to the basics, it plays the and the indie rock i like nice, is in a crappy old living room with plaster walls and echoy as all hell tho. mix of digital for the new stuff and vinyl for the old stuff. vinyl sounds better to my ears. so smooth and flowing, so good for jazz. nearfield solves the room issues mostly.
chasing the latest hifi, watches, cars, whatever is a never ending battle. so i focus on the content now. its more fun anyway. that means the music itself, driving the cars, and well, beater watches they all tell time right? lol

the content is definitely where it's at. the gear is just the means to the end, and when somebody is constantly chasing the upgrade trail, then the end never arrives and unfulfilled dreams turn sour.
i have a couple of music systems, and the one i enjoy most is the beater system as it does not demand critical listening.
re. jazz vinyl, music matters is coming to an end, which is sad, but their stellar legacy can be enjoyed forever if you have those records.

This thread should be retitled Cal represent. Lol
There was an Ameoba on Telegraph too. Cody's books. Book and music stores - memories of a bygone era.
Btw my housemate says vinyl is selling more today than it did eveen in its heyday. That's crazy.
Top Dog and La Burrita were staples to fuel those all-nighters.
