Default OEM Floor Mat Issue

When I depress the clutch, the bottom of the pedal pushes behind the top of the floor mat. Then when I release the pedal it lifts the top of the mat up with it.

Not good.

Anyone else have this issue? Seems to be the way it is snapped into the carpet. Its just a fraction too short up top.

Not good - they only snap down in the back. Get your self a set of different mats. Porsche makes winter mats which are also ideal all year round and easy to clean and will not lift.

The other day I was wearing dock siders and driving my GT4 and my left shoe got stuck and almost killed myself - note to self - always have a good pair of driving shoes. I have a pair of Porsche sneakers/driving shoes which are great and was lazy that day - Never again

I only had that issue when it hadn't been anchored properly after a car wash.

Wait no more. Bring back to dealer and tell them to sort it out. Also make sure they tell you exactly what they will being doing/have done.

They shouldnt just drill another hole on the floor to move the anchors back. If it gets stupid, complain to POrsche North America (if you are in the US). These cars should never ever have mats that trip over the pedal's travel. It's hazardous and Porsche needs to sort this out. I wouldn't let this one slide

Good luck.

the oem mats don't do that in my gt4's... yours must not be put in the right position, or they aren't oem mats

Mine does it in my 911 when they aren't positioned properly, they have Velcro. Its very annoying when it does it, I agree with Alpha GT4, take to your dealer.

People are jumping to dealer visits before having OP that the mats are positioned and anchored correctly in the first place? Sounds to me like they're either not anchored or maybe only one side is anchored -- easy fix.

When I wear flip flops, I always take them off and let them sit on the floor mats and drive barefoot. I imagine these dock siders are slip-ons? Much easier than making sure you're wearing driving shoes every time you'll be driving IMHO.

Thanks. The mats are anchored exactly to the posts on the floor, so its not an issue on my end. I will give a call to the dealer.

.
The OP did mention the mats "snap" in place. From that I assumed he knows how the mats work-- which aren't a rocket science. There is so little that could go wrong in the user end for 981 mats anyway, unlike the 987 mats which where just held in place with velcros that had a large margin for adjustments.
