my reaction too

to me it would be of more value to have a button that
1. activates sport mode cooling
2. shuts OFF throttle blip
3. leave exhaust valves closed

now we have a track car for laguna seca

Yes, but I like to also manually control the button when I want to. I just like it to default to on. If you really wanted to you could have it enable the button after a longer set time, say 5 minutes. Give you enough time to warm up and get out on your neighborhood or onto main roads.

I have a few of the $20.00 boards. Let's say one of those cost me $25 or so with tax and shipping. I could program one up for you and solder some nice Kynar 30 AWG mod wire on there for you for $30-40 depending on how you want it mailed. I'm not looking to make money on this, just enough to cover costs and a little time. If I had some of the $10 boards it would could cheaper.

The end product is whatever small Arduino board is used installed internally into the center console button module. There are 4 wires that go from the mod board to the button module board. The mod board resides inside of the button module container and is not visible even when the center console is taken apart.

1. off
2. on
3. disable
When PSE is disabled, the valves are open all the time, not just over 3K RPM.
This would require a wire to be run to the PSE's solenoid wire.

Yeah that would be nice, but does get tricky with wiring and control. At that point it might be better to explore CAN bus mods or a more dedicated option as they have done. You could come up with a wireless control method and it would not be "hard" to do. There are many wireless components that interface with these Arduino boards, for example a Xbee module would work great and is small and easy to use. (Actually his might be fun to explore)

Yeah, a person could pretty easily add a gps module or some other trigger to control the valves. Might be more likely to control the valves more directly instead of using the PSE button such as in the previous quote. But once you have that direct control then your options are much greater.

Yeah, but I'm lazy... I put a little extra effort in now to save me pushing the button nearly every time I drive... that will save me tons more effort overall. Who knows, maybe now I saved myself medical bills from developing carpal tunnel from pushing the button thousands of times. Hah!

But really, it was fun to work on the project and it solved a minor annoyance that I had and it didn't cost me a lot. I can also change the programming as I see fit and try other behaviors of operation. Heck maybe I'll add bluetooth to it so I can change parameters via my smartphone. Na I'm too lazy.
