WTB GT4
Hello everyone! I'm new on the forum but I have been reading posts for a while and I'm finally registered and posting. I've been searching for a GT4 allocation for a while or even a used one but there hasn't been anything within 300 miles of me that's not more than 10K above MSRP even for used! Can any rennlisters help a guy out? I'm really ok with any color even racing yellow. Icing on the cake would be an allocation. I live in the PA area and POTML is charging at least 10k above MSRP on a used one. Much appreciated!
Allocation is going to be really tough at this point. However, posts about dealers getting "pre-built" new cars and private parties selling lightly used specimens seem to appear on this forum on a weekly basis. Check RL several times a day and you'll find something quick enough.
Yea I know allocations are rare at this point. What prices should I expect for a used one 1000-2000 miles? MSRP or how much over MSRP for a used? Dealers local to me are still charging 10-15k over MSRP for used ones. Thanks!
I started looking in March and here is a summary of my experience:
Allocation - It's not impossible, but it's hard. Several people have posted during my search that they got one - usually lucky situation or a rennlist referral type thing. I almost got one from my local dealer who said they were very close to a dealer-dealer trade that would send their Turbo S and get back the allocation in return - but sadly no. My bet is at this point that some (very few) will shake loose as the drop dead dates come up. But I expect they will all go over MSRP or require a local sale.
New - You can get one new. I was 98% done on a deal for a white one at MSRP but the spec wasn't quite what I wanted and dealer was going to require gymnastics regarding the registration. Now I have a committed sale (car is on the truck heading to dealer, deposit is paid) for a new one locally. The Nashville dealer told me that after the allocation thing fell through, they contacted the "regional guy" at Porsche NA and begged him for a car. He gave them one that was on the boat - so obviously this was a beggars can't be choosers situation and I had to either accept the build as is or not. If you have a relationship with your local dealer (or can establish one maybe through a friend) I'd see if they can pull the same rabbit. Note: I agreed to pay $2K above MSRP.
Used - The used market is annoying. So annoying that I took a screen shot on April 20 of the GT4s that come up on a pre-owned search at the dealerships. All of those cars are well over MSRP and aren't moving - nearly all still show as available today (and had been for some time before 4/20). You can also find plenty on cars.com and ebay that are priced similarly. There are a couple that are right around $100K (like a silver one in ATL) that are nearly stripped (like mine!). I never started to negotiate on a used one but my target (in my head) was to try to find one I liked (spec and location) and try to pay about $5K over MSRP. I could have gotten comfortable with that if the car was how I wanted it. I highly doubt I would have gotten to that number at a dealer any time soon on a used car. The dealers with used cars are asking silly prices - do the search and you'll see numbers in the $125K-$140K range (that is absurd when you consider the base price is $86K).
Prediction (purely my opinion) - I think the market will hold firm and maybe get worse as production ends this summer. If you want a car in the next couple of months I think you'll end up paying over sticker unless you get lucky. I could see a window opening next winter when prices drift down - people run the cars at DE events this summer/fall and then want to dump them fairly close to what they paid. Maybe then modestly equipped cars hover around $95K rather than $110K
My advice:
- Decide when you need/want the car. If it's this summer then get ready to pay
- Determine what premium you are willing to pay
- Follow rennlist closely
- Visit your local dealer and tell them your goals
- Watch ebay and cars.com
I could probably go on and on. Hopefully my two months of hunting around can help you. PM me if you have any specific questions.

I too was on the hunt like the OP and from my experience,
Incoming builds 10k-25k over depending on location.
Most used examples are 10k-15k over
Ones at sticker are not being sold out of state
If you are ok with a used GT4, I would find one that is as close to optioned as you would spec, and start negotiating. I was able to get the price down 2k, and the car is already clear bra-ed, so I did not feel as bad paying over sticker.
Thanks guys for the advice and help. The NY dealer had two allocations but sold them at 10k over MSRP unfortunately. Yea I'm trying to get a lower number above MSRP on a used one but seems like they aren't budging. Hopefully there's additional allocations or used ones coming in. Thank you all for helping me out.

I think from my personal experience:
Factory floorspace is converting and we are in last 2 months of GT4 as we know it
Most cars in production were specced a long time ago
Most dealers know what this means in medium term (scarcity)
As such they only want to sell to local guys or for over MSRP.
I saw a new Gt4 on a showroom and asked about the price. They said it is Msrp but because of that they will only sell local. I feel like that is a good business practice. Most dealers take the easy way out and shoot for the moon/ over sticker especially out west.

If we focus those effort on making money... The time we spend looking for a GT4 may already net us more than 10k...
Just saying...
