Default Owner Review of Fabspeed GT450 Performance Package

As many of you already know, we have been operating at the cutting edge of performance on the GT4/Spyder platform and have now put together a performance package that allowed us to hit the 400whp (est. 450bhp) mark with full bolt-on exhaust/intake upgrades and tuning. We will be having an official release of this package on the forums shortly and as an introduction here is a link to the GT450 package, picture of the package in it's current configuration, and the dyno graph showing the superb gains of 53whp/65wtq. Further details and videos will be included in the official release.

That being said, we already have several clients running this full GT450 Performance Package shown above and the majority of which I have worked with personally. Here are two reviews sent to us of this package to help provide you all with some quality insight to make a educated decision on maximizing your driving experience.

David S.

"For me, the Fabspeed GT450 Performance Package perfects the Porsche Cayman GT4. Automotive journalists seem to agree the GT4 provides one of the purest sports car experiences ever. There is the occasional complaint about tall gearing and a slight tendency for understeer. Some note that, though fast, the GT4 is not supercar fast. Fabspeed fixed that last complaint with a vengeance. With 400whp, the Fabspeed GT450 GT4 is dramatically faster than the factory version. Enough said. Case closed. But wait...there's more? That isn't even the best part? Not by a long shot! The sound...oh, the sound... The run from 4000 to 7800 revs with open windows is pure aural nirvana. Nay, it defines nirvana altogether. The naturally balanced flat 6 has ever begged to be so unleashed, adding hyper scream to buttery smoothness. Icing on the cake is the car can be driven in grocery-getter mode and not open fault lines in its wake. Grandma will simply give a wink and a nod, rather than flash the mark of the beast as she surely would if she heard the car in arcade mode. And finally the car retains factory quality, confidence, and appearance. Thank you Fabspeed!!"

David B.

"Purchased my 2016 gt4 about 3 weeks ago. I put on about 100 miles and realized I wanted a bit more low end torque and overall horsepower to compensate for the tall gearing. I researched an option to have a stroker kit added, but couldn't trust that the tuner would back the motor and didn't want the risk of losing my warranty. So, I decided to go with bolt ons and a custom tune.

I contacted Fabspeed and spoke with Bobby. I had a very small window to have the mods done, due to business travel priorities. Bobby assured me that they could get it done on time. He was very thorough with answering all my questions and concerns. I decided on their gt450 package(Race Headers, Full Exhaust w/ Carbon Tips, BMC Air Filters, IPD Plenum, 82 mm gt3 Throttle Body and most importantly, the Cobb custom tune).

When I arrived last Tuesday, my car was checked in and I was given a full tour of their shop. I was very happy to see that they fabricate the headers and exhaust, in house! The plan was to pick it up Friday, completed. Bobby sent me a video on Thursday,of them testing my car on the dyno, along with the results printout. My car produced 396 hp and 327 tq. My engine is not fully broken in yet(Only 250 miles at the time), so I am expecting to gain another 7-8 hp and 3-4 tq, once I have a few thousand miles on it. They invited me back for another dyno at that time. Their tuner, Steve, is very experienced/knowledgeable. He did a custom tune on my car and I must say, it's very crisp and aggressive! Steve explained that he always continues to work the tunes he does. He will contact me and send any improvements in the future, via email, if he gets any more gains.

I picked up my car last Friday. My car was well taken care of and was up on the lift when I arrived, so that I could see all that was done to it. The installation was 100% complete and very nicely installed. The exhaust valves are controlled by the exhaust button, on the console. The sound difference is noticeable as soon as the car is started. I had a 2 hour ride back to New Jersey. The performance from this kit is nothing short of astounding! It has torque way down low and the power pulls and pulls and pulls to just about 8000 rpms!!!

I have owned some amazing cars with amazing sounds(2010 & 2015 Porsche gt3's, 2011 Porsche gt3rs with Sharkwerks center exhaust and 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia). The gt4 with this kit, sounds better than any car I have owned, imho!

I would like to thank Fabspeed, Bobby, Steve and all team members involved in this build for an excellent job, well done!!"

Please let me know if there is anything I can answer for you in regards to the products in the package, or anything else you may be interested in

For those dedicated enough to read through this entire post, I will now reward you with a secret that very few people know about. As i'm sure you all can understand from personal experience, many of us at Fabspeed refer to the GT4 as our spirit animal. This holds true to me as well, and I am constantly dreaming of owning one. This fact along with my growing love for the Porsche community has pushed me to become a Porsche owner myself. Although I am unfortunately not in the position to afford a GT4, I am thrilled to say that I will be picking up a Porsche within the next 2-3 weeks (schedule permitting) that will get me as close as I can to that feeling while I recoup from getting married this coming May haha. The want/need to join this forum as a Porsche owner was a major factor in my decision, so I want to thank you all for being such a welcoming, passionate community of true "petrolheads". Stay "tuned"

At least we don't need to spend $20,000 for a 4.0L conversion to get to 400whp

we need some rev-ing videos

Our fellow Rennlist member John Montgomery has plans to attend the event on Saturday with his silver GT4. He has this full kit, although with a modified 981 TrackTec system that is under potential development for the GT4.

On the left of the throttle body is the infamous IPD plenum, and to the right is a vacuum canister we now include with our systems to promote reliable valve function with the increased exhaust flow and track abuse, and reduce valve noise at idle and free-revving.

We are still working on getting dyno results of the full package with the Sport Headers, but we already have dyno graphs of the just our Sport Headers with our Valvetronic Exhaust on the GT4 making within 2whp/tq peak of the Race Headers with out the IPD package and custom tune. We know the Race Headers have more potential with supporting intake and tuning modifications, hence the estimation of about a 10whp peak difference between the full Street and Race Package.

John, these gains are awesome. What influence does the Fabspeed exhaust have for those that want to stick with the stock PSE?

And do you have any numbers on weight savings of the headers and exhaust versus stock?

Curious about cel due to lack of cats. I believe others are still working on it and if you found a word around.

I think there were still some issues running the throttle body or catless with the tune per other threads from bgb and cobb.
