First track outing report
Not a dumb question in my opinion..
I wondered similarly. I called John at BGB and he said it would work fine.
I wont try to explain it technically but from the way I understand it, the bar works as a whole - not per side. So changing by one hole on one side is like moving 1/2 a hole on both ends.
However, I dont claim to be an expert so dont take my explanation with much confidence.

2:05-2:06 is nothing to sneeze at.
I was there with my 991 GT3 a few weeks ago and ran 2:04s - on Hooisers.
My Aim SOLO predicts current lap time and I had a 2:02 going down the front straight until I hit a traffic jam and had to brake - so, I'd say the GT3 is a few seconds faster than the GT4 without traffic - as it should be.
But, those lap times are pretty damn impressive for a stock car with crappy rubber. And, yes, I think the Cups are a few seconds slower than hoosiers.
Now, I may suck at driving and you may not, that's left for another discussion

Matt is a lot faster than he gives himself credit for being. I rode with him in the 3.8L conversion we did and i sat shotgun for his 2:04s on old rubber last year. He wasn't leaving much on the table and used to race 997 Cup cars. His avatar doesn't lie as he is a GT3 nut and is someone who really wanted a Porsche GT street car and seems to be quite happy with the choice he has made, as i knew he would be!
As for the sway bars, given that the basic design is that every time you touch the steering wheel you're pulling and pushing on the sway bar blades because they're connected to the upright, it isn't having a huge effect on the car because you're doing the same damage by so much as touching the steering wheel. At the end of the day you want adjustable drop links so that they can be zero'd and the bar can sit at static ride height with zero pre-load on it. The whole half hole on 1 side vs. the other was something that we always tried because the front bar is the single most powerful tuning tool on the whole car. I like to be able to find out exactly how much bar the car wants so you shouldn't be afraid to do a half hole experiment of your own. Remember that track width, tire compound and alignment, if different from car to car, will require different bar settings. Food for thought!

Nice work GT3 nut. i said it in a different thread, but damn good time in this thing out of the box!
I managed a 2:09 my first time in a porsche on track. only mod was toe links to get to 2.75 and 2.5 and SRF. i was on stock pads. I have lots of time into 14 and and end of front straight. (im coming off of my e36 race car with no ABS so have to make and adjustment to stand on these p car brakes)! I think to gain more time in 9/10 i need some stickier rubber, was only seeing like 90 through 10 and should be up at 100.
hopefully meet you out there next season.. who do you run with? also did you get the track app working??

That's a dangerous question and the answer may lead to a dark place! There are many options available to pull data. They range from the very simple Harry's Lap Timer smartphone app to full-fledged data loggers that connect directly to your car's ECU. It really depends on how much you want to spend and how much time you want to invest in learning how to understand and use the information you get.
IMO start with a aim solo (can take it car to car) or DL. DL will plug into ECU and get you more data. both are great

Coming from an e36 you don't depend on horsepower and that is a great place to start.
Stickier rubber will certainly help but the cup2s still have enough grip to carry some more speed through 9 and 10. I think the aero on the GT4 certainly keeps the car planted well there. But I also want to upgrade to stickier tires and I am sure it will help my confidence there. However, turn 10 is somewhat of my nemesis corner - I crashed a 996 GT3 there back in 2004 and I still hate that turn! But I have gradually been carrying some more speed there - especially since they added some pavement at the end of the curbing on track out. There is more speed there to be had but I am not sure I want to test the limit myself yet.
I hope to meet you as well. I don't do a whole lot of events anymore - maybe 4 or 5 a year max. But I normally run with PCA. I have done some CHIN, David Murry, TrackDaze as well. I am not sure which I will do in the spring yet.
It would be great to do some lead/follow so we can help each other improve.
