Default Questions about graphics/decals

So I kind of have the desire to do some sort of graphics on the car. Just to individualize it somewhat. I guess I like the idea of making it "my" car and I like a lot of the personalized cars I have seen at meets and such.

I do have some criteria I have to meet: It has to be 100% reversible back to stock. I want it to be relatively subtle. But most difficult of all, my wife has to at least grudgingly approve. That last one may prove impossible but that isn't going to prevent me from exploring the idea.

I have attached a picture, which is just a mock up of my first idea. This image actually pretty much proved to me this was a bad idea but I think it gives a good sense of the kind of thing I am trying to do. But just to explain that a bit further, I am Finnish, I watch F1 religiously, so naturally I am a big fan of Both Kimi and Bottas. Nothing Ferrari fits with a Porsche or a white car for the matter but the Martini stripes that Bottas flies are of course perfect.

I didn't do it in the mockup but I would probably put a little 77 in there, and maybe even a Finnish flag. But before even exploring those little additions I already proved it doesn't bowl me over, and my wife absolutely HATES it.

Anyway, I have never had a custom graphic made... so I would love to hear from anyone who has. And I am interested to hear what other people have done with subtle or not so subtle graphics on the GT4 or any car really.

I bought the Porsche side stripe before my car came, but so far I have decided not to apply the decal as I really like the way the car looks as is.

I looked long and hard and those stripes too. Even mocked them up on my car long before I got it. That's when I learned my wife pretty much hates stripes of any stripe...

One of the reasons I am trying to find something subtle. I may end up with a tiny decal on the rear side window.

Maybe something on the winglet. The martini stripe may look good there.

From Suncoast. Had them put on at the dealership before delivery. No hood/roof striping.

Gmaki,

I saw this cool, and "stay classy" decal on a GT3 in Germany. I think I will do this on my car

I am a big fan of decals and personalizing these cars. The thread below might give you some ideas. One of the nicest "subtle" applications is the black C4S that belongs to SilverSurfer (a buddy of mine) with the ghosted Porsche side script. I suspect you can get the same effect with a slightly different shade of white for the decal (or a metallic decal finish in the same shade). I have the scripts on my 993 (below) and am trying to decide what type of decals I want to do on the GT4. If you get tired of the look they are easy enough to remove.

I was thinking of doing a ghosted hood stripe at some point. Subtle, but there.

That looks very classy. I assume you got the stripes through PORSCHE

That does look nice! Not real flashy but adds a nice accent.

A little OT... I saw some golf clubs in your garage. You play often ? That's part of how I got the nick name Ocho. I was a 20 handicap when I joined a private club by my new house. I made a bet with about 23 guys there ( $100 each ) I could get to an 8 handicap in 6 months. Well 5 months and 15 days in I won the bet. It just so happens I only drink Corona or Patron Tequila and a late Member stated calling me Ocho. Now everyone calls me Ocho. Now to make matters worse I then rebet all of them + a few more that I could beak par from the back tees in the next 6 months. 5 months 26 days ( thought I was going to lose this one ) I won that bet. 71 from the tips. Guess they should of asked me if I played golf in high school I could ramble on and tell you about the casino trip where I walked up to a roulette table with my golfing buddies drunk as a skunk and threw a $500 chip and yelled put it on Ocho and it hit....$17,500...what a trip that was!!! MEH maybe another day.

My Xpel installer surprised me with the windshield banner and I like it a lot but I also like the top of the wing as a great place too. I'll be doing this when after my wipers begin to wear out the emblem

I WAS playing once or twice a month but I have not played in a couple. I just changed jobs and things have been a bit hectic so they have been collecting dust. I normally just keep them in the Focus so they are ready to go.

The funny thing is there is TPC course nearby me and I have been toying with the idea of joining off and on for a few years. However part of that "toying" was more of a "Do I get the Porsche, or join the country club?" and as you can see, I got the Porsche. So I will continue to suck at golf for awhile longer, and believe you me I suck at golf.

I still may join, depending on my wifes career. All my mid life crisis purchases are being paid for with her salary. lol.

Taking the car back to Autoskinz this weekend for rocker, scoops and wing protection. I will talk to them a bit more about the graphics. I did a second mockup where I also put a touch of Martini on the side mirror, lined up with the one on the wing and it looked pretty nice too and still subtle.
