Another sofa advantage is the Porsche Europe ISOFIX option, where you can shut off the passenger airbag with your car key and attach a separate childseat to the ISOFIX hooks in the 18 way sofa seat.
I purposely got the standard seats instead of the LWB for the isofix hooks and was very surprised to not see them yesterday at the dealer before delivery Friday. I made a conscience choice so I could lock the booster in place instead of using a loose booster secured by the seat belts.

Not a deal breaker but a bit peeved to pass on LWB for safety and not get any perceived benefit.

When I first saw that I shuddered thinking just how that carbide point will gouge the door jamb sheet metal. Here's the next million dollar idea: Replace the start button (where applicable) with The Clapper.

going off topic - but why even bother with a start button. with keyless entry and auto start/stop.

getting back on topic - I wonder what the LWBs will cost as parts...

When all is said and done, what will be totally ironic is if the majority of GT4's are speced with the LWB seats, and it's the sofas that become the rare ones that command a premium.

lol no chance in hell. At best there might be more LWBS trade opportunities from those with back problems and got way ahead of themselves when they ordered the car. This LWBS popularity trend oddly made my car the only CWM car with 2-way red stitching seats in the USA according to gmaki's spreadsheet.

tl;dr

I picked up my car with 18 way sofas. I would have likely spec'd LWB if I waited for a build slot. That said I love the seats. The 2 way are probably fine actually.

Do you guys know if you can still use a six point harness / bar with sofas? that's all that matters to me. (should have done research probably).

LWBS look the best. I sat in some and they really irritate my low back. Thus I went with 18 ways.

I need the car cane. LWB would wreck my back like prison.

This! I genuinely think there is an opportunity in the aftermarket for a Recaro Sporster type seat that takes a 5 or 6 point harness. Baffles me that there isn't one out there that looks nice.

I wonder what the tipping point is for a seat manufacture to make a specialty aftermarket seat that takes our airbags from the current seats (or without them). Group buy?

You don't want to run 6 point harness with regular seats. Just not safe.
No where to run the sub straps or lock in the shoulder straps.
Get a Recaro/ Sparco seat and install it properly.

Not if you want to run PCA DEs. Specifically prohibited under PCA's minimum DE standards - for very good reasons.

I know both seats, the 18-ways and LWB's, exceptionally well after the last week. How so? I just came back from a 2800 mile road trip today. The first 1400 miles was in the 18-ways. At the half way mark I stopped to join up with another member for a seat swap where I swapped my 18 ways for his LWB's. Then on I went for another 1400 mile's in the buckets to complete the trip.

In conclusion, I can simply state that I only see the buckets being superior in two specific cases: (1) You want to run harnesses for track use and do not want to "mess" up the interior look with aftermarket seats (+ weight savings), and (2) you simply appreciate the superior, gorgeous look of the LWB's so much more that you are willing to sacrifice the other comforts of the 18-ways.

I made the swap decision purely on #1 and am very happy about it; however, I might be a contrarian here, but now, after having spend many long hours in both, unless # 1 and/or #2 strongly apply, the 18 ways are superior in every way.

Also, I have an iron back, but if you have any inkling of back and/or neck issues I would think very long and hard before getting buckets.

Has anyone used the LWB's with a helmet yet? It just feels as if the headrest is very close to your head and with a helmet on I am a bit concerned it might push your head into an uncomfortable forward position?
