So, in going through the owners manual I saw a listing for setting the rain sensing wipers through the on-board computer... but when I went there the setting option does not show. I confirmed my car has the option according to the window sticker and the mirror has the sensor, so does this mean my car may not be programmed correctly for the options I have? I already contacted my dealer and am awaiting a reply...

Wouldn't an easy test just be to turn them on and see whether they sweep while there's nothing on the windshield, then maybe pour a cup of water on your windshield? It looks like the multi-function display just allows you to control whether the wipe interval is automatically adjusted or respects the little slider switch on the edge of the stalk.

 

Mine doesn't have a setting for rain sensing wipers through the cluster either. The adjustment is via the switch at the end of the stalk. The manuals have a lot of errors, unfortunately. Seems like they selectively cut/paste from other cars and didn't have the engineers review closely to see what sections were actually applicable.

 

Having my local dealer check this on Tuesday... I would like the option to set it to manual intermittent if needed. I will update what we find out once it is back from the dealer.

 

Confirmed working as designed... the manual reference is a typo as we tested several other 981 models and none of them had this menu selection. LOL
