I'm out of town at the moment so I can't check on my own car.
You pull out on the switch to activate the rear foglight. I don't think there is a front foglight feature.

Sorry to bump this older thread but I am still debating getting the headlights covered before the first track day. Does anyone know if these pdls plus with black trim are the same ones on our GT4? Cost is 2k and much less for the same one without the black trim. The $6k number above has me confused. Thanks.

No, Suncoast doesn't seem to list our lights on their site, which are PDLS non-Plus in Black. However, I'm sure if you called it emailed them they'd be able to quote you for the right part. The $6K figure seemed crazy to me when I read it but I didn't say anything since I was too lazy to independently look into it, but I can't imagine these would be $6K given the prices for the other variants.

As for covering them, if you've read this thread you saw me change my mind based purely on confidence in my installer and his significant amount of experience. I would recommend others do the same: ask your installer about their experience, specifically with 981 headlamps, and decide based on the answers you get.

just cover them in the wide blue painters tape for the track day. your car is blue, won't stand out that much. few guys here do it. why risk.

Thanks. My installer did a great job on everything else but I held off on the lights. I'll call Suncoast this week and see what they say about ours just so we know what we're up against.

I agree, but I run night sessions during the summer (huge fun) so I need lights for when it gets dark. That said, if I don't feel comfortable coating them, I will use the painters tape during day sessions and risk it during the night.

I also did not cover them and literally on the way back from the installer a pebble flew up and hit my headlight and put a tiny little scuff in it.

Moral of the story is I should have covered them, as a matter of fact I am going to have them covered very soon (hopefully the film will also obscure the scuff).

In the end if the light it all chipped from rocks it is just as ruined as it would be with delamination.

That's what I'm afraid of, especially on track. The headlights are amazing by the way. I flipped on the brights once and was shocked at the level of illumination.

So, Ryan at Suncoast went out of his way to add our specific headlights to the site today and provided me the link. Outstanding customer service. 1400-2000 depending on which unit.

Undoubtedly per unit, judging by the prices for the headlamps that are actually listed on Suncoast's page.

Aside from delamination, the way our headlights are designed, it is almost certain the edges will pull away eventually. If you look closely where the gasket is, there isn't much space to tuck and wrap material in between the headlight and gasket. You cannot wrap over the gasket. Eventually you will see a white line around the edge of the film and it doesn't look good. I would rather risk rock chips on the street and then cover them on the track.

I had the headlamps covered on my M3 for 4 years and even though the edges weren't wrapped, they never started peeling, nor did I end up with unsightly wax lines (not for long anyway) or a yellowed edge around the wrapped area. On the GT4 my installer did not wrap the edges of the headlamps, so I don't have 100% coverage, but I expect a similar longish-term experience to my M3.

Hmm, maybe my installer didn't want to take the liability then and was trying to scare me.
