Default Orders Pending - Get These Options

Got my car last night. USA car

I did not get the two zone climate control (recommended by Porsche).

That was a mistake - I assumed i would get a 1 zone "automatic" climate control and for a car this size that would be fine.

Well what you get if you "don't" get the two zone climate controls is essentially a manual setting - no auto, no temperature controls - you have tom move fan up and down as the climate changes - a pain and some thing I could have avoided had I understood this.

Upgraded Stereo - I did not see the need just to get the USB plug. Again I feel this was a mistake, having been in two GT4's at the dealer last night back to back - the upgrade also gets you a screen upgrade with better graphics and a much better look. It would have been worth the money.

The stereo can be fixed after market - the climate control cannot.

I will post more later on my impressions and options etc...

Just wanted to get those out there if anyone is about to lock their order.

I didn't get either and I'm not worried. Adjusting my own AC is perfectly fine and I don't want screens,USB and stereo in this car.

" Less is more "- the Porsche way.

So ironic. Ever since automatic climate control has been around it has been a never ending fight between me and my wife. I swear to God I do not think most women are capable of understanding what a thermostat is and how it works. I know my wife, who is extremely intelligent, does not.

When we get in a hot car she turns the fan to it highest setting every time. This despite the fact that I have demonstrated on multiple occasions that if you set the thermostat to 72, and it is 95 in the car it will automatically use the highest fan setting for as long as required.

So now the ultimate irony is that I have ordered a car that works her way. It wold almost be worth it if I could show her and say "See honey, you won. I configured this car to your tastes" but she would not even know what I was talking about.

My wife exactly! Full blast, every button gets immediately cranked to high. I save my breath these days since she just won't accept what I'm saying about leaving it set and the car will figure it out the most efficient way. Nice and quiet, that way we can have 'conversation' and all that...

I specced dual zone reluctantly at first but it seems to be a hugely popular and functional option so I'm happy I got it.

This 100%!!!

My wife is the same! It drives me crazy!
I'll start in a hot car as you said with the climate control set to 70F or so, and when it gets too cold she will immediately override the controls and set the fan speed. Just change the temperature and let the system do the work for you!

On a side note, my GT4 has the manual controls and I haven't found it to be as much of a pain in the rear as I expected. Still, I'd rather have the dual zone simply for the set and forget nature of climate control.

Manual AC being standard came up a few times in various threads here and has been discussed at length on P9 since it is true of the regular 981s as well. A close look at the 3D configurator if you select the climate control option, zoom in, and then deselect it to see the regular controls would also have shown you that there was no Auto button in that setup.

CDR+/PCM getting you a higher-resolution head unit display and USB connectivity is clearly described in the configurator information for those options and has also been discussed at length here and on P9.

Sorry you didn't get quite what you wanted, though.

There's a "max" button, at least with the dual climate system, which the wives will be happy to press.

If I have auto in my GT3, I wouldn't know it. Never use it. I won't miss it in the GT4 either.

Do all of your wives press the elevator call button multiple times believing it will make the elevator arrive faster too? I can (sort of) understand a wife cranking the fan up and/or turning the thermostat to its lowest setting in the (incorrect) belief that doing so will cause the car to cool off faster -- the existence of "Max A/C" button in some cars only reinforces that behavior, after all -- but to not notice that the system is already maxing out the fans in Auto mode? Or worse, to acknowledge that and to continue fiddling with it manually? I guess we all have our eccentricities. I'm just glad I'm the rational, data-driven type.

I didn't get either and I don't regret it at all. The only difference between single zone climate and what comes with the car is numbers showing up on the screen. My *** isn't sensitive enough to feel the difference between a couple degrees in the car. To be honest my climate control is never on and if it is its either cold or hot. As far as the stereo upgrade yes you do get the better screen but I think the stereo in itself is actually pretty good. I got an arcam mini blink for my bluetooth streaming needs and it actually produces better bluetooth sound then the stock bose system in my 911. The screen is kind of annoying but I plan on replacing it with an iPad mini 4 later this year.

This would actually demonstrate some, albeit rudimentary, level of understanding of the function of a thermostat. But no she does not even do that. She just goes straight to manual and maxes everything out.

the existence of "Max A/C" button in some cars only reinforces that behavior, after all.
But Max A/C actually has a real purpose that distinguishes it from "normal" AC, so this again would be at least marginally more acceptable than just doing something that has no actual benefit, and only drawbacks.

I could not imagine caring about climate control, especially on a *throw back* car like the GT4. Less is more.

My must have options which I looked into and optioned were.

1. Full leather. Great deal on the GT4 and looks fantastic.
2. Duel zone (auto climate control) Manual climate control without a **** is crazy.
3. Light Design package. (vanity lights)
4. Smoking package (extra 12v plug)

I got CDR+ My question is that does CDR sound the same as CDR+? I don't know if the CDR+'
s head unit is more powerful or not?
