Picked up this morning and christening it with its first handicap spot parking job (SA did that):

Hey soupy, curious why you (and any others) went metallic rather standard white? To be different? More rare? You prefer the metallic sparkle?

I have a white on order but for some reason, the metallic white hasn't appealed to me as much as I thought it might.

...oh, and congrats!

It's something that can only be appreciated in person with both colors next to each other. In the direct sun the blue-ish tint is very apparent and up close you get that subtle metallic sparkle that just adds some character to an otherwise neutral color choice. In darker light reflections, I also found it having some more natural depth to it than the base white and it's a whiter white in general so it just feels like it has more pop to it. The metallic sparkle also does a better job at hiding any light swirls under direct sunlight as well. Whether Porsche metallic paints actually have a thicker coat than their flat colors I have no idea, but it certainly won't be thinner.

I have similar views and love both whites. The metallic flake in CWM looks very nice with the platinum stitching and silver trim if you purchase the painted interior. I like the various appearances a metallic paint gives depending on lighting conditions, but I also like the appeal of solid colors. You can't go wrong with the available colors on this car.

Thanks to you both for sharing your thoughts (fishing I was about to invade your thread with the same question).

I also like the complexity and dynamics a metallic offers, but for some reason I keep thinking the standard white is very utilitarian/motorsports-esque. The blueish tint could be desirable in contributing to a colder color feel, similar to Audi's Suzuka grey. I think orthojoe had a good post in some other thread about the difference in white between his Spyder, the GT3 and a friend's CGTS.

They did the same thing to me lol. I had to explain to everyone that I sent the picture to that I'm not really a careless *******

By the way, it was nice meeting you and I really loved your GT4 especially with the red contrast stitching.

Same here! I got a peek at your car before you arrived. Looked like all three cars that arrived got Michelins.

Your buddy and I shared 2009 BMW 135i reliability stories together which was fun. He "won" with a blown up clutch at 18k .

Great pictures, car looks great...especially with those clear LED side markers. You know, the platinum wheels look good on white too (I'll have to keep that in mind).
