Knowing my luck, I might have been stuck with the sofa seats and no PTS if I got an allocation. haha I would have probably passed even at MSRP if I couldn't get the bucket seats in the GT4. I have them in my GT3 and LOVE them, even more comfortable than the GT2 buckets (for me at least).
I don't know that I'd pick the GT4 over the 997 GT3. I think I'd pick the rawness and power of the GT3 if I could only buy one car.

Been about a month and a half since I've been away from my baby, itching for a drive when I get back!!!
The buckets are great for sure! I would have passed as well if it came with sofa seats. Although the new buckets are a bit too big for my butt...

Believe me I do love my GT3, but considering the increase in price of the 997 GT's it's starting to lose sense. Why would I pay more for a car that is 7-8 years old? Having a warranty and being able to order a car and spec it to my taste would be more fun. My car is/was actually pretty well specced to my liking, really happy about that!

So USC was kind enough to let me drive his new toy as i helped him get it and his commuter car home from the office... I probably put about 75 miles on it, highway, ramps, surface streets, so gentle driving (really!) I also spent some time much more closely looking one over at the shop yesterday.
A few impressions:
--design is great, but do not love the air intake section, feels 'afterthought' a bit, rest of car just looks excellent
--Fit and finish is great, big step up from the 987 series of course. His has full leather, deviated stitching, and it looks nice, but not over done.
--Steering wheel is GREAT (size, feel), but damn, why the plastic center? first thing I noticed. My cayenne has the sport design wheel and that's all aluminum, and feels much higher quality.
--I would want a more aggressive stance, more aggressive offset on front wheels
--The wing blocks the rear mirror as bad as on my RS
--I do not love the sports buckets. They look amazing. For me they are a little big, and they lower back support caused them to make my back ache after only an hour or so of freeway driving. I'd want to put some additional cushion there. No other seat has done that to me. If I were to daily this car I'd have couch seats, if i were to track it I'd get Recaro and put the carbons on the shelf.
--Exhaust note is really nice
--Damping feels excellent, totally could daily this car as it is. I felt the 'sport' setting was a little bouncy, but the normal setting was just fine. Would have to try both on track.
--Auto blip - not a fan. just seems gimmicky, like a crutch to help out those that haven't learned to drive a manual proper. i like doing heel toe manually, didn't play around to see if I can turn it off, can you?
--Steering - I just have to say WOW. Porsche nailed this one. The tactile feel is the best i've ever felt with electric steering. the feedback, while not as good as a hydraulic or non-assisted setup is very good. it feels proper, and doesn't feel artificial (like my wifes M235). The weighting is just right, and my memory compared to the 991GT3, it's BETTER. USC we need to drive back to back!!! :-)
--Agility - the car feels light, agile, and extremely well balanced. compare this to the 991gt3 which to me felt big, heavy, and arduous (despite being a rocketship!). Mid corner throttle adjustments are met with very predictable balance changes. The car turns in very well, has great balance, and just feels like it wants to go and be pushed harder and harder.
--Shifter - NAILED IT. This thing is about 90% of my 997RS. Great slightly notchy feel, no mush, very precise, short shifts. Only downside I'd say is the spring action off center to 1-2 and 4-5 is stronger than i'd like. A couple times my head thought I went 3-2 when i ended in 4. Clutch is maybe just a tick too light, but overall good
--Engine - Feels like a 9A1 (which i've had in a 911). That's a good thing. Plenty of power, good torque band, wants to rev, lively.
--Gearing. I won't hash this again, 2-3 felt too tall for sure when thinking use on track. Around town it's fine.
--Brakes, didn't really get to test these much, but the initial bite, and pedal feel i felt was better than the 991GT3 which required very deep pedal to get into the bite
Summarize that Porsche really nailed this car. Like it. Trade my 997RS for it? No. If buying today for similar money 997GT3 or GT4 as a track toy, I'd pick GT4. 991GT3 vs GT4 for exact same money? hmmmm.....that's tough, i like driving experience of the GT4 better, but the pace and limits of the GT3 are sure damn attractive..... I think one must have both. :-)
