Alex started driving the car yesterday. First impressions are that the new 2nd gear ratios makes him "feel ten years younger". More to follow...

Just drove the Sharkwerks car with the latest gearing on a decent road, around town, and a bit on the freeway.
I believe my first words were "It's fixed."
Followed by: "This is how the GT4 should have been."
Followed by: "If I kept my GT4, it would HAVE to have these gears and this engine management tune."
Followed by: "All it needs now, for me, is 7th gear from a 991 in 6th for the freeway."
The car felt significantly reinvigorated, with the squirt out of bends needed to take full advantage of the GT4's sublime chassis and considerable grip. Part of it is the tune, which fixes the problems I experienced on CA 91, but more of it is the gearing.

I could handle feeling 10 years younger right now

I suspect Matt or Alex can best speak to the car's setup, but I believe it is new gearing plus a LWF and SW's clutch setup, which I prefer for its lighter clutch pedal. And then whatever mild engine mods Alex has in the car (quite nice) plus some visual items (taller rear wing, flicks, wheels, etc). But the big wow for me was the new gearing—I always felt the gearing was the weakest/most frustrating aspect of my GT4.

Matt, many of us are looking for the complete solution for road use regarding the gearing of the GT4 and Spyder. Along with this new 1st/2nd main shaft and your existing 3rd through to 6th lower gear sets, please can you offer a higher 6th cruising gear ratio option for us long distance touring guys? Some of us have to travel a long way to reach the winding mountain roads.

I will be keeping an eye on this mod.....even if I jump into the next GT4, which if only comes in manual I suspect they will use the same transmission.....will put this at the top of my mod list.
Only thing holding me back is IF the next GT4 will have the goods for me to make a change and if PDK would be available.
I wonder if sourcing a used 981 Manual (any model), and building all internals with GT Gears components would be a good option instead of tearing into the original transmission.
Cost would go up but downtime would be minimal and you get to keep the stock one ready for future installation. You can ship the core to any reputable shop and have no rush to get it back.
Not sure how much these transmission go on the used market and if there's anything special on the GT4 (besides the Diff, which of course adding the GT Gears unit is a must) compared to other 981 models.

A couple of comments.
Please don't expect me to post pricing on anything ever. I am not a vendor here. This is my personal user account that is primarily for my personal participation in this community. While I am happy to answer tech questions and engage in discussion on all things Porsche I don't ever want to lose my privileges because I was seen to be vending. And by the same token, I ask anyone wishing to speak directly use my company email. I don't PM unless it's about my own personal stuff.
I would suggest people seriously interested contact Sharkwerks or another RL sponsoring vendor who is a Guard Transmission dealer, like BGB Motorsports, Deman, Autometrics, etc. etc. They are better suited to quote you anyway because they would do the actual install of the parts, and therefore can include their labor cost and other ancillaries that would be involved in an install. If you are talking mainshaft, gears and LSD, expect to spend 5 figures on it.
I will not be making a taller 6th gear. Setting aside that I don't think it's something needed (these cars cruise at 75mph around 3000rpm) there's the fact that it makes no financial sense. We don't make quiet street car gears. We make motorsports gears. We would have to go out and spend thousands on new tooling to make gears with a street car profile. I would need to sell over 50 sets to just break even. Sorry. It's not going to happen.
Pete, thank you for your candid and detailed feedback, as always. Having a known player who can be trusted at his word, and not a salesman, speaking about these things is something I think everyone here welcomes.

Thanks to some circumstances beyond our control, this took much longer than expected to get to market. That said, I just took delivery of 5 of these kits. 2 are already sold, but there are 3 more up for grabs. As mentioned above, don't hit me up for them. I don't sell direct, and you'll need a shop to install them for you. One of the shops mentioned previously can help you out.

You mentioned in one of your other posts that new synchros are required. I assume these would not be necessary if the gearbox has just be replaced under the recall and say have only done 1000 miles or so?
You also stated it necessary to "shave" the reverse idler gear. What does this involve?
