which dealer are you ordering from? My car is arriving in the same lot as yours. I ordered from Downtown. plan a similar trip in the summer of 2016. I will not be as lucky as you to drive it right away this november. It's going straight to storage. I'll worry about all the 3M Pro and paint sealant, audio upgrades in March or April 2016 depending on weather.

The tires are the big issue. it will not handle all the conditions you'll encounter going cross country. If you must go, consider a 2nd set of wheels and tires. Can you go down to the Pilot A/S 3's? I know there are PSS available in the same sizes.

That would be an awesome drive. In June.

Brand new GT4 on OEM tires in November? Could be slightly less awesome.

Perhaps the new Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles will be open by then? I'm sure they will be accommodating deliveries there

Just spoke to my SA about doing a courtesy delivery and he is going to look into it for me.
The good news is that my delivery date has been moved up to the end of October, so if I have to do the drive, I will at least be able to avoid inclement weather.

Great, I hope they can work something out for you! Please let us all know if you find out whether courtesy delivery to the US is possible for a Canadian car, and what arrangements are made for titling and registration if so. October should still be ok, but mountain passes are notoriously unpredictable, and you may encounter less than ideal roads even that early in the year at higher elevation. I would still try to avoid going across the Rockies and even the Cascades. Let me know if you pass through Vancouver, I'd love to see your car and hear how you made out with your trip plans. Good luck!

Firstly, I have to give a "HUGE" shout out to "<3mph" for coming up with the idea of a "Courtesy Delivery", which I must admit I had never heard of.
In fact no one at my dealer, which has been in business for decades had ever heard of courtesy delivery, mine will be the first.
I just got off the phone with my SA and he contacted the dealer in Vancouver BC and set everything up for me, for my car to be delivered there.
What a relief, not only is this going to save me 2 1/2 days of mindless highway driving, and potentially save me from driving in unsafe winter driving conditions, it is saving me from putting on an extra 3,000 kms on the car which we all know is huge on Porsche vehicles.
Plus, it is allowing me to pick up the car in Vancouver, and drive down to California on one of the most awesome, scenic drives in North America, heck in the world....down the Pacific Coast Hwy.
It will also allow me to break the car in by the book, stopping in interesting places along the way.
I priced out shipping it, and in a covered hauler would have cost around $3,000 USD, which with the current exchange rate a whopping $4,000 CDN.
This has all been a real learning experience for me, and a good one.

Deerhunter, there is an extra charge, but nothing in comparison to what the shipping charges would be.
I'm just so darn relieved that I don't have to do another cross country drive.
Been there an done that at least 6 times.
Really looking forward to the drive down the PCH. I've done that drive about 15 years ago and it's incredible.
This is for anyone living in the Vancouver area....if you have had paint protection film put on any of your cars, can you please recommend a dealer to me?
cheers

That's the benefit of the GT4, I'll have enough power to pass those darn RV's and Prius's.

That's great news! I also have a guy that wraps cars--he did a great job on mine but he would need advanced notice to book an appointment. PM me if you want the contact info.
