Default Aftermarket lithium ion battery?

I find it a bit strange that Porsche don't offer the lighter lithium ion batter offered for the GT3? Are there any after market alternatives? I see that Suncoast are offering the GT3 battery for $3,295.00, which seems a bit pricey.

Take a look at Shorai Lithium Iron (LiFe) powersports batteries. Much, much, much cheaper and extremely lightweight. I used a 1.6 lb Shorai in my S2000 for a while. Probably a little extreme with that size but they make some more powerful versions that still weigh under 5 lbs.

I put a Braille 48CE in my 997.2RS as a replacement for my motorsports lithium. Works great. It was plug and play, no special mounts needed.

How does it perform when letting the car sit for a few days? I'll be using my car as a weekend / trackday car and I wouldn't want the hassle of having to connect the charger if the car sits for a few days or even worse disconnect the battery to save it.

Quite a nice weight saving, should make up most of the weight of the Clubsport package!

I think the rationale given by Porsche was that the RWS in the new GT3 necessitated a bigger battery.

It's been working great, however my car is not armed while it's sitting in a garage in Texas (warm). For more money and 5 more lbs, they make a unit with double the capacity - as much as an OEM lead acid battery. It's far better than the original motorsports OEM lithium "starter" battery.
