I should also add that I had to disconnect the rear sway bar to allow the wheel carrier to drop low enough for the strut to clear the fender lip. Not difficult, only ordinary tools required.

I was able to gain enough clearance to remove the rear struts by removing the sway bar bolt that allowed the carrier to lower enough to remove the strut without removing the axle or changing any suspension settings. I don’t know if your GT4 suspension is different, but this thread worked on my 981 Cayman S. I also contributed some pictures and tips on this thread that worked on my PASM struts to provide extra clearance for the PASM wire that comes out of the top of the strut.
Jim

Thank you so much Jim! I really hope it would be a similar situation with the GT4. I can’t imagine the two being that different but who knows. This method is far less daunting.

Thank you for the extra advice. Are the 6 bolts the ones that cannot be reused if I end up needing to remove the CV joint?

I was not aware the CV joint bolts were not supposed to be reused. I reinstalled mine, then did 33 track days and they’re still ok. I suppose I should replace them for this season.

I've seen the videos on removing the front strut through the top, very cool idea.

Dave, could you elaborate which bolts are one time use exactly?

Technically all of them. This is a very typical VAG thing. I can tell you that very rarely have I ever replaced these bolts and everything has always been fine.
When you torque them, just torque them, don't do torque + angle.

The bolts that hold the axle to the transaxle. As docwyte noted below, it's probably not really necessary.
I only know because I had my axles repacked and the shop replaced the bolts
