That is consistent with what I see locally (out in Asia).
For 981, GT4 sale volume was approximately 5x (or even slightly more) that of Spyder
For 982, GT4 sales volume was only around 2x that of Spyder
(only verbal data I got from sources, nothing to back this up, but visually can see this on the streets in where I live albeit a very small sample size)
I would argue there are a few reasons:
That said, locally, I believe we are seeing more 982 Spyders floating around in the used market for sale. There are same number of Spyders for sale (if not more) than 982 GT4s
Obviously, all of this is just my personal speculation/opinion

I would argue there are a few reasons:
- The 981 GT4 was introduced first before Spyder I think, and got far more publicity
- Porsche AG just allocated more production capacity for the 981 GT4. The approximate allocation for 2015/2016 GT4 was around 70 cars in total, while the Spyder was just slightly more than 10. There was definitely an over demand on both cars back then, so I don't think Spyder got no interest
- The 982 Spyder has become a real roofless GT4, with same suspension and all that, so those who wanted "GT-suspension" felt the Spyder is more "track-worthy" or however one puts it
- Porsche AG saw the (overwhelming) demand on the 981 Spyder, so more capacity was allocated to 982 generation Spyder. That said, the 982 generation was also done over a much longer run, so I suspect this has something to do with supply matches the demand's distribution as well
- There will always be some who chase after rarity factor, and probably picked Spyder just cuz 981 generation was more rare in Spyder

Even though it isn't a 981, a 718 spyder with the 000 options went for 200K on BAT today!! Nuts... of course I'm biased but we have several 981 and 718 spyders in our car circle here in Scottsdale and I much prefer the looks, and sound of 981...
(and I like to do a lot of the maintenance myself and I friend here with 718 GT4 found it much more of a pain to do anything underneath compared to the 981)
