Joye says even with the aux cable connected it does not use it for audio:
I'm going to ask again in a few different ways since this is technically still vauge

OK, probably a stupid question but I’m going to ask anyway. I just bought a 981 Spyder. How do I know if I have CDR31, PCM 3.0 or 4.0 or other? If I go the Joyauto route I want to buy the right interface. I have Navi and Bose.

@Carlinkit If you have a 981 GT4, it would be either a CDR31 (no Nav) of a PCM 3.1 with Nav.

I got my joyeauto unit to work and wanted to add a few install notes ( I have a Base cayman 981 ),
Make sure to flick dip switch 1 on and the rest off,
Make sure to flick switch 2, turn the car on, press the touch points ( + ) calibration marks, then turn the switch off, then the car off, then use as normal to calibrate the screen. Mine didn't touch until I did.
Also for the base cayman 981 I used the Ventilated seat 5 amp fuse on the bottom passenger/right side fuse box. Most fuses are switched to ignition in there, including pass. seat air bag sensor, but the passenger foot well power outlet is on a timer that shuts off after... 3 minutes I think? It is exclusive to the models after the 987 that's why people don't know it has a timer. So if your carplay is still connecting with the car off that might be the reason, avoid using the "accessory power" fuse.

I wanted to know if anyone had the link to the custom firmware someone has made that corrects the resolution. The unit has a few pixels cut off the screen and someone on a forum has made software that set the resolution correctly. I lost the link to the fourm and can't find it on google. Unless the firmware was for PCM 3.1 car play only? either way It would be nice to not have the few edges not cut off in carplay on screen.

fwiw, the audio will always go thorugh aux. The CDR 31 bluetooth is for calls only. It would sounds like 8 bit if it was otherwise. I installed the joy e auto unit and the audio actually is not bad I have to test more but it's not anything to be scared of. I think my bass might be less but it comes with a factory 0 'neutral' eq but with " bass " turned on and set to 192 whatever all that means. Everyone here has it on without knowing it unless they went into the unit's settings and changed it. when i shut it off it made a slight difference in sound quality but ive only had 20 minutes to test with it. It seems to take the wired carplay sound into the cable VIA usbc then go through the joye box and convert it to Aux somehow a DAC is in there, then cends that aux wire into the factory harnes??? That's all I could figure out tracing the wire. But the dummy plug goes into the aux port so they did something very intresting here to get audio to work.

isudar kit would be perfect for you. I accidentally bought it and they took my return back. Kimi is good tech support there. The Daughterboard/pcb system, Install, and screen resolution is way better. Wish I had pcm 3.1. AND it's cheaper than the cdr31 stuff

I have returned the unit and would appreciate a response or refund.
