Default GT 4 Battery size

I see that I have an H5 size series battery in my GT4. I am wondering if all the GT4's came with this smallest size battery? If you look for replacements, every site recommends an H8 which is several inches longer and of course much heavier. Maybe Porsche used different batteries depending on the climate in the sales location? My H5 is nearly five years old and still functioning perfectly. I do keep it garaged and on a CTEK when not in use. Can any of you battery knowledgeable guys offer an argument why more cranking amps and amp hours are needed? Weight is no big deal to me as I'm not seriously tracking, but why add the giant battery if not needed?

My stock battery just tanked after five years. If you keep yours on a CTEK and watch it closely, you can probably get more mileage out of it for sure. Can’t remember the actual size designation, but I replaced mine with a Continental that’s several inches longer with much higher CCA. Take this FWIW, but my Porsche guru mechanic says there is so much drain on the battery that, as the smaller batteries age, there is the possibility of excessive stress on the alternator. I track my car regularly, but I’m not hard core enough to worry about a few extra lbs.

Mine had a H5 in it (not sure if it was OEM or the 1st owner went smaller/less weight) but I replaced it with a H6. I had a light weight battery in my ‘07 Cayman S and it was very iffy in cold wx or the car sat for a few days. I never noticed the 30# savings anywhere on the track. But I did worry about the car starting in hot and cold conditions, especially when on the trailer with the tire rack above the frunk which really complicates things, even more so if the parking brake is set and the battery is dead. Ask me how I know?😭
