Default RSNV risers GT4

So I finally decided to pull the trigger on some risers for my GT4. First and foremost I don't like the aftermarket look, I find that the aftermarket very rarely improves upon factory (this is debatable I know), and in fact I generally don't appreciate spoilers and would have purchased a GT4 touring if available. That being said, the standard spoiler height I find to be just ridiculous, if Porsche wanted the car to feel like a true "gt car" they should have started with the aesthetics and given a spoiler more similar to the GT3. The standard spoiler is far too low and always felt like an afterthought. I had thought about the larger one piece risers available on the market (i won't mention them by name as I don't want to come across as bashing), but I think we all know who set the standard in this segment, we will call them SA for reference, I couldn't bring myself to pay 1300-1500 for "two pieces of metal", there are other brands that just scaffold on to the standard risers, and are much cheaper but look terrible in my opinion. I ended up giving a new company a try, RSNV, as the height was about as high as I wanted to go and the price and quality looked like they checked all the boxes for me, so I gave them a shot. Am I glad I did, completely transform the car. I won't spend time detailing the install as the instructions that are provided are really excellent full color fold out that literally would allow my wife to have completed the install.

purchasing was seamless, a little difficulty with tracking as they use USPS and tracking was way off (they had actually arrived at my mailbox before I got an update that they had even been picked up from RSNV headquarters, which is across the US). However they arrived at my house within 3 days of purchase.

The packaging of the risers was top notch, each side labeled and sealed in a bubble wrap package, inside a large secure box, well sealed and complete with pry tools and the previously mentioned instructions (really can't say enough about the quality of the install instructions).

Couple tips on the install, have a friend help with wing removal, also the hardest part of the whole thing was removing the VHB tape adhesive that comes on the factory risers. A PRO TIP, USE TURTLE WAX BRAND BUG AND TAR REMOVER AFTER CAREFULLY HEATING WITH A HEAT GUN. ONLY USE THE ISOPROPYL TO PREP THE SURFACE FOR PLACING THE NEW RISERS BACK ON. the provided pry tools (which i couldn't believe they thought to include) are the only area that I feel are a little lower quality, I ended up destroying them pretty quickly and instead used my panel removal tools (I use them for interior panel removal).

The quality of the actual risers is very nice and easily on par with the previously mentioned SA and far superior to the other available options, I have discussed with RSNV briefly about offering a "naked" version that would allow painting to individual preference, which i think would be an excellent offering, but the standard finish is of the highest quality.

I find that visibility is a little limited when looking for cars coming up behind you from a distance (would be with any higher wing), but that detriment is easily offset by the benefit of much better visibility when reversing in to a spot.

before

very high quality, great packaging

post install

digging this touring look a lot!

this stuff is miserable to get off, make sure to use turtle wax bug and tar remover.

I used 3m VHB tape and cleaned the pieces that cover the screw holes so i could reattach them, look factory as F.

subtle but taller, the height that porsche should have made it.

the whole reason I installed these was for my daughter, nicknamed piglet, to have something to lean on.

Is there any angle of attack (AOA) adjustment with the RSNV risers? How does the AOA compare to stock? Mounting the wing higher will increase downforce and drag given the same AOA, but it looks like the AOA is more aggressive too.

The stock AOA adjustment is on the wing rather than the upright, so if it fits the OEM wing then will have the same AOA adjustability.

The AOA compared to stock will require someone to use inclinometer on the RSNV risers vs stock (preferably on the same car in the same position before and after install so everything else is equal (tyres, wheels, pressures, floor, etc..)

Since the wing is sitting higher, wouldn't you want the angle of attack to be less?

As a guy that tracks his GT4, that's what I worry about with all of these different wing risers - how do they affect the aero balance of the car? They have got to throw it off vs stock, which worries me at track speeds.

Correct. You would need the wing riser AOA to be less than stock for the downforce to be equal as increasing the height of the wing will naturally increase downforce with everything else being equal (in most cases, you do get to a point where you will get wing stall but doubt it is the case here).

But the increase in downforce shouldn't be enough to overly upset the balance of the car and I would be surprised if you could feel the difference.

I would eat my shirt if you are able to tell the difference in down force.

I agree I don't think I would be able to tell the difference between increased downforce - I was talking about upsetting the balance front to rear. Who knows, maybe I wouldn't be able to tell that either, but others on this forum can and have.

They sure do look great though!

Damn, I need to get a set of the RSNV wing supports. I feel this is the way the supports should have been designed from Porsche, the proportions at every angle are amazing. Just when I thought I was done spending money on mods, I come across this post. Thanks ; )

I have black wheels so I'm perfectly happy with black risers, you can always get them powder coated or painted to whatever color your heart desires.

I caved and bought a set too!

Looking sharp! Appreciate the write up. Great tips too. Excited to see more photos - keep them coming!

Are you looking to match the stock silver option? If there is enough demand we can look into matching it in the future. We may set a few aside raw next batch if some people want to go for their own customized finishes elsewhere.

Thanks!

Put me down to try it... It'll match the Forgelines I just ordered :-)

I’ve got the SAs and my stock was silver too. If you’ve got silver and want to change to black, or you can’t get silver risers and need to change the wing mounts to black, pull the mounts off the wing and plastidip them.

worked perfect for me.
