Default Help! Need to remove trim to get access to filters

I recently purchased a GT4 and it has a BBi half cage but I can’t figure out how to remove the side trim to gain access to the air filters. The trim was split to reinstall. Any tips or tricks?

Here's a link to Cantrell GT4 Roll Bar Install. It will explain how to remove trim. http://cantrellmotorsport.com/wp-con...nstruction.pdf

Hi Noco,

I'm in the same situation, and watching this thread eagerly! I managed to get the central piece of trim (with the oil/coolant caps) out without completely removing the edge pieces you're referring to, but I can't re-assemble it the same way -- there is just too much tension.

I don't think Bill's reference to the Cantrell guide is useful here, since in step 20, they cut out much larger slots than the thin cut that you and I have in our cars.

I have bbi now also but trim install is not really any different with the bar other than the bar now goes through the trim.

I tried to include pictures of the trim clips so you know how/where to pull on the trim to remove.

The way the trim is split at the bottom there doesn't appear to be able to get it off without additional cuts or bending so far it might break. Any other thoughts?

Why do you need to take off the trim? Just move it out of the way/ slide it up so you can loosen the metallic trim to access the DME screws. Did you follow the instructions in the link?

I am going to assume you are too afraid to pull trim, or you are not getting the proper leverage in the appropriate spots.
