Hey group, very new user here. Drove a 2005 Boxster S yesterday and considering a 987.2S as a weekend car. Never owned a Porsche but it's definitely the second car I've wanted for a long time. I'm researching what to avoid (IMS etc) and what features I would want in my search (xenon, manual). There are myriad wheels available for these cars but the prettiest ones I think I've seen (maybe on any car) are the current GT4/GT3 10-spoke wheels. Has anyone mounted a set on a Boxster? Do they fit? Are there knockoffs? Image and forum searches haven't led me to much joy so I decided to post a thread.
I'm mid 40s, living in FL and my daily is a 2018 Audi A4 which I like a lot. It might have to go if I get a Porsche and then the question becomes - what is the minimum reasonable utility vehicle for hauling kids etc? I only drive about 6K miles a year (remote employee).
So many decisions ... great forum you have here, and thanks in advance.
GT4 wheels should fit on a 987. You might need a 5 - 10 mm spacer to clear the suspension because the offsets are higher than the stock 987 offsets.
In my opinion the 20" GT4 wheels would look a little too big on a 987. The largest diameter wheel I would put on is 19".
There are plenty of other nice wheels for that car, for cheaper too (BBS, OZ, OEM) etc.
Good luck!

Yeah in doing some further looking, the Boxster Spyder wheels (similar, not exact) are probably a better fit. Certainly cheaper. Thanks for the reply!
My Boxster Spyder / Cayman R Wheels. These are 19" and for me, that is better than the 20" for ride quality. I think for 20" wheels, it would be better if you started with a car that was designed for them (i.e., later Cayman of Boxster). I also have Cayman R suspension.
Yes Cayman R or spyder wheels is much better fit.. here's my old Boxster S 987.2 with spyder wheels, lowering springs, cayman spoiler and spyder front spliters
For those that like the Cayman GT4 wheels Rotiform manufactures a custom forged model called the PGT that is inspired by that wheel. Since it is built per order it can be made in any diameter, width, offset, & color. It's a good way to get that wheel you want and not compromise on size.
