Default Sparco SPX in GT4

Took advantage of the incoming inclement weather to do some maintenance and finally installing a pair of new Sparco SPX special edition with red stitching.. Got a pair of 986 Boxster seat belt latches so I didn't have to do any dismantling of the OEM seats when I want to swap them back in the future. As for the dash warning lights on both seat belts and airbag, I will find a local tuner with PIWIS to program them out... Enjoy the pics..

What do the stock seats weigh with rails?

Those look great with the red stitching! I saw a pair w/o the red stitching in a GT4 last week and I had to do a double take cause they looked stock... but not. The leather and alcantara match to OEM Porsche is shockingly good. Recline + harness compatibility FTW!

I dig those seats! My only concern is what do I give up when moving to seats with no airbags? Side impact protection?

Agreed. I think they look good, however I think the Porsche seats you have don't look too different. If you bought the seats for a harness, why wouldn't you just go with a fixed back race seat and potentially halo? Otherwise, why give up the airbags for the street? Do you not like the OEM seats?

I like spending money.... Seriously.. That's what it really boils down to.. It's an emotional purchase more than anything else. These seats are more supportive and cost way less than the factory carbon buckets.. If I wasn't so fluffy when I got the car, I would have opt'ed for carbon buckets...

Porsche Side Impact Protection (POSIP) System

Both new Boxster models are equipped as standard with the Porsche Side Impact Protection (POSIP) system. It is comprised of two side airbags on each side. An integral thorax airbag is located in the outer side bolster of each seat, while the door panels each contain an upward-inflating head airbag. Each thorax airbag has a volume of 0.35 cubic feet, and each head airbag 0.52 cubic feet, ensuring excellent protection in the event of a side impact, even with the top down. POSIP additionally includes steel side- impact protection elements in the doors.
