My dealer does not tac on ADM's and it will be at MSRP. I'm thinking a debut at Geneva March 2019 would be appropriate. We will see. The wait (at least for its official reveal) shouldn't be too much longer....
I think its dealer dependent. If they don't know you, they want big deposit. I havn't put down a penny on my GT3s, RSs. Its understood I am buying them. Likewise, I get the first GT4- its simply understood.

Porsche doesn't require anything. Your dealer is looking for free money.

I’m getting the spyder. Never paid a deposit not on my PTS gt4 or my incoming 3RS. It’s not like the dealers are risking much by letting you spec the car. They can sell it in a few days if you pass on the car when it arrives.

Now if you ordered a extremely high msrp c2/4s in a crazy color...yes deposit needed. That car could sit for awhile.

This is how the conversation goes in Canada:

Customer: Can I get on the list for a new GT4?
Dealer: What GT car are you trading in?
Customer: None, Im paying all cash.
Dealer: Only those who are trading in a GT car will get on the list.
Customer: But I don't have one? How do I get on the list?
Dealer: Buy that 981 GT4 over there for retail and trade it in when you pick up your new GT4, and don't complain when we absolutely fleece you on trade in value.
This is so true it is not even funny

The dealer only required a smaller deposit. Whether fact or fiction, I've heard stories of not getting on the "list" unless you're a prior GT owner or minimally a prior customer in good standing. Others claim their deposits were returned, as preference was given to others. That's what I meant by not taking any chances. I offered to put the downpayment amount down for (hopeful) security of allocation. They did not request it. I was raised with Porsches but this will be my first. So I'm establishing a foothold in the "new" Porsche community. I have no prior history with Porsche or any Porsche dealership. Not many choices in my neck of the woods (without traveling a greater distance and the likelihood of ADM's) and am happy with my preliminary dealings. SA has been great. Sold my Corvette this past May to make room for my GT4.

Not wrong from what I’ve heard. I’m a new Porsche customer and put a deposit down March 2017. I made it well known I am an enthusiast, showed up in my 1000hp Corvette, told them I do a lot of social media and track events. Doing everything I can to get myself an allocation other than buying a separate Porsche to trade in back to them. Will basically have to cross my fingers when allocations get released that I get one. I even plan on extensively optioning mine and I know they like that.

Conversation? You mean the part when the salespeople frantically try to stuff their ***** in my ***?

I don’t think they care but it has nothing to do with short term profits. As long as Porsche continues to make outstanding products they will sell as many as they can make. The minute they stop doing that, your long term relationship isn’t going to be worth a hill of beans. I doubt that you are going to come to their rescue when the next turbo turd is released.
