Ditto - checked mine before cranking - was at 11.7V.

thats with the ignition turned on which takes current. if you put a voltmeter directly on the battery it probably is a little over 12v with the key off. carl

Just went out and inserted key in ignition, rotated to ACC then seeing 12.2V, BUT I noticed the interior fan and several items powered on so there was a light load.
I initially thought 11.7V is a very low standing charge but I guess this car has quite an electrical draw prior to starting!.
Voltage regulators usually limit at 13.7V to 14.2V

then again, measuring Voltage does not always give a good indication of Current Cranking ability

I pulled the negative cable from the battery for 10 minutes and reconnected in an effort to "reset" things.
Didnt work.

Given the error message on the dash ("Depress the Clutch"), it really does seem like it is the Clutch Safety Switch, which used to be a $38 white plastic switch, but is now a $202 sensor because the switch (sensor) is part of the master clutch cylinder.

EDIT:

The part is in fact in stock at the P-car parts warehouse down in LA.
Car got flat-bedded to the local dealer today (1/29/30)
Will post a follow-up after dealer diagnosis.

Is it possible to jumper the switch? If it's a simple pull to ground it might work.

I was going to do this with my 997.2 GT3. The crank thrust bearing was wearing doing to very infrequent starting. The idea was to take the load off the crank while starting by not requiring the clutch to be engaged.

And get this.... my parts guy at my local P-dealer looked around for the part and NO ONE IN THE USA has it in stock.
That means its gonna have to come from Germany, go thru customs, etc..... and maybe take 10 - 14 days.
Which will require not one roundtrip on the flat-bed, but two trips.
:(

Can't you leave at it the dealership and grab a loaner? Surely this is a warranty item........Phil

Turns out, the part is in fact in stock at the Porsche Parts warehouse down in LA.
Will follow up with another post once the dealership diagnosis the exact issue.

Fingers crossed.
