If you have worked on your Cayman or looked at it from underneath, you may have noticed these small-ish cylinder-like things in several places. I kept a few parts from recent repairs and decided to cut one of those apart to see what was inside. There is a rod with a disk attached and the disk is packed tightly in metal mesh. See below. Looks like for vibration damping.
