Hey Ya'll, 1st post. I've been following the GT4 for a long time and it's always challenging to own one of these beauties financially especially supply being so limited. Is it customary for Porsche to build more units because of additional trim levels, ala CS, Spyder and RS? I would imagine so, considering the success of the 1st gen, more units more profit?

I don't if this has been posted already so I'm sorry if it has; this thread has been on fire over the last 72 hours!

Tom, Chris, CJ, between a few of us, we had already caused chaos here.............

The worse part is that pretty much every one that said something at one point or another is right, until Porsche changes their mind.

Hmm, a GT3 engine, if fitted to a Cayman body, will automatically make less HP by default simply because of the different intake and exhaust path.

Don't forget, the engine in a 911 and a Cayman is facing different direction.

3.8, 4.0, it really doesn't matter, a 718 GT4 will be a special car. It's not turbo-ed like the rest of the range, that in itself is already a trump card.

Don't forget the old mantra, the best Porsche is always the next one.

The 4.0l motor has been developed for some time. Its no GT3 motor but shares the capacity. All part of rationalisation to make the company more profitable with the advent of electrification amongst other things perhaps.. Mr. Preuninger and others can explain why the choice of the engine in the road car at launch.

Couldnt agree more, 718 GT4 and 992 GT3 platforms including RS, if any with the former would probably be the very last two with NA’s from Porsche. Barring any special edition super low volume models. I highly doubt we will be enthusiastically speculating what capacity NA will power any GT# car after these two are done with ever again. I wouldn’t mind the 3.8l nor would I mind 4.0l in whatever form it may be, as long as it’s an NA.

Really hoping this 3.8 is not going to be in the next GT4 and Spyder with its current gearing. If that hp and torque overlay that was posted earlier is correct it makes little sense to me. I'll just personally buy another 981 and put headers and a tune on it. Hopefully they'll do an internet reveal at the beginning of February like they did with the 981. I'm getting really antsy

Thanks for the pics.....I can't see very well because of the caliper but it looks like the exit of the exhaust manifold is different. Also....that section at the end may be the catalytic as there's a muffler right before the tip.
