Default PCA Club Racing Exhaust rules

I recently acquired a 981 Clubsport MR that has Fabspeed catless headers. Are these legal to run in PCA GTD1? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

No they are not. You need the headers and full exhaust to be stock. You should also ensure there is not ECU tune, as headers often are a sign the car has been tuned.

Thanks, for the quick reply. Is there a different class it would run in?

Correct part numbers are 9811132118c, 9811132128c for the stock pieces it looks like.

And that is why PCA is lame. Stock headers on the 981 suck.

every series has rules. Yes headers would open up the car. So would being able to take out 100lbs, but where do you draw the line. Lexan rear hatch, carbon fiber wheels, softer compound slicks, different gear ratios, 4.5L engines, Dundon intake runners…there are literally an infinite number of upgrades and everyone will have a different view on each.

Oh on that I agree. I was saying they suck in they are one of the most failed/cracked parts is my understanding especially on the 981.

PCA is normally really good about adapting the rules to allow alternative parts if the factory ones fail frequently. All it takes is for the class competitors to band together and suggest/support a rule change.

For what it's worth, this happened specifically in the 987.1 SPC class. The headers were a constant failure point, and we worked with the series to replace them as a spec replacement. It is possible, it took awhile but it came around eventually and no more failures with our headers backed by a lifetime track warranty.

Contacted PMNA to see how much replacement headers are. The non-cat'd version are NLA (9811132118B & 9811132128B) but you can still get the cat'd version now (9811132118C & 9811132128C) for a whopping $4,503.62 per side!

If these things are prone to failure, we sure as heck need a more cost effective alternative.

We are happy to be that cost effective replacement like we do for SPC as a PCA Club Race sponsor. Our catless headers for the 981 are currently $2895 for the pair and come with a lifetime track warranty. If anyone heads the proposal to PCA and would like any additional information, please feel free to give me a ring any time at 4848836197 or shoot me an email at johng@soulpp.com.

Well a little more research shows the street GT4 parts are 981113212CX & 981113211CX and are on Pelican (rarely the cheapest) for 2816 total (1469 + 1347). So that's not bad. The Soul option would be nice for the lifetime warranty though. Sounds like a rules proposal is in order!

(and yes, it would be 9k for new headers from PMNA)

But the OEM Clubsport cats are high flow 100 cell vs. street car 500+ cell version, correct?
