Default Great weekend at VIR

Really enjoying this car. Very easy to drive. This was my best lap of the weekend (second time there) being chased by and chasing an LS3 powered E46 M3.

What tires were you running? I was in the white CS you passed coming out of the final turn on lap 6. That E46 was hauling the mail.

Yes it was! I had on Pirelli slicks...Only a four heat cycles on them. They were working well.

You looked good out there! The VBOX is a great tool, too!

I was trying scrubs for the first time, so I was a little tentative.

I can tell you there is a pretty big difference between used tires and brand new slicks. I was on pretty worn out tires on the North course on Saturday. But was having a great time learning to feel how the car moves around. But there was no way I was going to send any lap records. LOL

I also want to get everybody’s opinions on the ABS setting. I always keep it on three as that’s the recommended setting but moved it to the number two position and really liked it a lot more. I could brake deeper for sure. .

Some nice laps. Just imagine how fast the BMW would be if the driver actually hit hit the apex once in a while.

No doubt. At a track like VIR, 4 heat cycles is probably off 1.5 seconds off from a new slick. At 10 heat cycles, it can be 3-4 seconds. It makes a huuuuuge difference.

We've used 2, 3 and even 4 in dry conditions. All seem to work well. It's a bit driver style dependent.

Well done, when you have a bit more experience with the track you will see the esses are easy flat in a Clubsport.

Also, I don't believe the fall off after 4 hc is as much as 1.5 sec, my experience less than .75 sec.

Right! In his defense he was on street tires testing for AER races.

I’m not that fast...They didn’t fall off after 4-5 cycles...The ones I was on previous had about 20. LOL.

OK good to know...I am using Ferodo 312 pads...Like them but maybe the PFC pads bit harder initially?? That’s what I want.

edit...Screwed the quote option up but I answered each item again. LOL.

Thanks! Enjoying the car a lot. Just need to be a little more precise (as you said time on it) as a couple of times I tried and about dropped a wheel off. Pucker moments...LOL.

Have only run the PFCs, but me and my co-driver like them quite a lot. Good bite, and the endurance version last forever.

Street tires should not impact the ability to hit the apex

I will have to try them...Is there a specific part number?

Good point...Maybe I was "pushing" him a bit! He came over after and talked about what a great time those laps were...It helped me to my quickest lap also!
