Interesting. I have a 981 also...I was at VIR last weekend...Mounted a new set of DHB's (replaced with the same) on the last morning of the weekend...ABS light came on and never went off for the rest of the day (5 sessions). I never did try driving in a straight line for 10+ seconds as I was on the track (and there probably is not that 10+ sec. situation there)...My ABS was working perfectly though. I will try this on the street soon and report back.

Does anyone know the sizes that are being run in the Sprint Challenge Series? It is the Yokohama Advan A005 slick. I have the rules and actually read them, but did not see the sizes.

I am interested in exploring purchasing 10-12 sets of Pirelli slicks in bulk for the season with the hope of realizing a savings. Anyone know if this could work and a place that could accommodate?

Frisby Performance Tire is the only place I know of. That's a lot of cash sitting in the basement.....

Has anyone tried the Yokos? They're much less expensive than Pirelli, Michelin, or even Hankook, at around $1,200 or so per set.
And the quickest posted Clubsport lap times from last weekend's Sebring Sprint Challenge race seem as quick as Pirelli and Michelin at 2:13.8. Yoko's might be worth a try.

Looks like they're running 250/650R/18 front and 280/680R/18 rear (see attached screenshot of the Yoko page on the Sprint Challenge website)

I would like to give them a shot...

I’ve tried just about every other slick on my CS so far (Pirelli, Hankook, have some Michelin take offs now. I even tried Toyo RR semi slicks in some races with NASA but hated them). Love the Pirellis and like the Hankooks, but am always looking for something reasonably fast for less money. Maybe the Yokos will be next...

I’m guessing the rears cost maybe $100 or $150 more, maybe $300 or $350 tops. Add mounting and sales tax and you’re still in for $1200 or so.

Flame suit on!!!
I have always run take-off Pirelli's on my 987.2 and have been pretty happy. I have never run a new DH but have run a 1:31 at Mid Ohio on the pro course. I typically run these out to 12-15 hc after I get them. Do I just not know what I am missing?
Thanks,
Mike

With take-offs you miss the first couple of heat cycles, which is where all the fun is. But at a third or less the price of new slicks, they do give you good bang for the buck, as long as you don't need the very fastest lap times. In my experience, take-offs are a couple of seconds slower than when they were new.
