718 Cayman S
Question ... Should I go ahead to order a 2017 Cayman S now and take delivery around July or should I wait till August to order a 2018 718 Cayman S instead? And I have read that the 2018 718 Cayman S front fascia may have a new face lift .... ??? Any idea ???? Thanks ....

The 2018 Cayman/Boxster 718 are available now. I put a deposit on a special order 2017 Cayman 718 in early March and was told this week that the order would go in for a 2018 Cayman. Porsche has not updated their website with information concerning the 2018 model year, but they have updated the car configurator with 2018 pricing.

What build dates have you been given for your 2018's? My 2018 Cayman S at this point is entering the body shop on the 16th of June. The way my Cayman S is configured I have put 23.5k worth of options. There is a change on with the 2018 that was not offered on the 2017's.....if you look at your build sheet you generated on the configurator under the heading "Engine" Porsche is offering the 10k maintenance for free....

I do not have my build date. I just have the first page of the build sheet with a vehicle status of V200. The dealer did not share page 2 which most likely has the dates. That's fine with me. The car will be done when it's done.

Update ... I am going to the dealership next Friday and sit down with my Porsche Sale Agent to configure a 2018 Porsche Cayman S in the dealership computer, generate a sale order, print out an order/build tracking schedule, put down a deposit and surprisingly am getting a $5,000 discount of the special order MSRP. I cannot wait to take delivery in later July or early August.
Now this is just the first hurdle. The next to come is to evaluate all the protection and maintenance packages that the dealership has to offer. That means another $10,000 out of pocket. Yuk! LOL.
Mine is going to be with Metallic Jet Black color with painted silver wheels.
Stay Tune !!!!!

I have test drove a 2017 911 Carrera, the 718 Cayman and 718 Cayman S. I also test drove a 2014/981 Cayman S. The car I thought was the most fun to drive was the 718 Cayman S…..hands down. In fact, the compression ratio for the Cayman S (9.5:1) is better than the base 911 Carrera (10:1). When I went to the dealership I was intending to move up from the Cayman S to the base 911 Carrera but the 911 felt unimpressive....kind of like a family sports car. The Cayman S put a big smile on my face. I had to go to 4 Porsche dealerships but I was able to negotiate 4% off MSRP, which admittedly is not a great deal. One dealership would not discount at all, another agreed to the 4% but backed the deal off to only a $2000 discount, another agreed to the 4% but never called with the new allocations that left me with my present dealership/SA and he honored the 4% and called me as soon as the allocations came available. The moral of the story is shop around……Good luck with your Cayman S purchase.
