Do I have to undercoat a Sunday driver?
My 82's is 100% striped down ready for sandblast and rotisserie paint!
Anyone have experience driving a car on the street with no undercoating?
In the spirit of removing weight I was thinking to just paint the car with a quality enamel and leave the 20lbs behind.
I also really like the smooth clean finish.
I understand this may create unwanted noise but it’s a convertible and I only take it out when the tops down.
What about inside wheel wells and fenders or engine compartment?
This is a street/road car but mostly just my Sunday driver.
Here’s one extreme...
And the other...
Any input welcome. Thanks!

I see us as 'stewards' of our Porsches while we own them. Therefore, I'd vote for undercoating your car as a way of taking care of it while you own it...too many have been lost to rust over the years.
I hear that you only plan to drive on sunny Sundays, but you can best protect your investment by undercoating it. This is especially true for the earlier cars that aren't galvanized.

My paint guy said over 100lbs will be added to do the entire car like the red one in the pic... Sounds high... but I guess that could be the case including paint.
