What's the best die cast 996 1:18 scale
I posted this in the 996 Forum but other forum users might be able to help.
I am looking for a quality die cast 996 Cab model car 1:18 scale with great attention to detail, engine, doors, hood, bonnet, driving wheel moves, cross drilled rotors, hardtop, softop, etc. Someone once posted a great site out of Australia but can't find it in a search. This site did custom colours.
Ideally, I want to order a specific colour combination.
I know about Bburago, UT, Minichamps, etc.....
I am looking for something real awsome and different.
Any pointers would be most appreciated.
Cheers

Scouser - I've started a decent 1:18 Porsche collection. There is a local Porsche Club member who runs www.scale18.com He offers a very competitive base model price, but shipping will be the determining factor to decide where you get your model(s) from.
I would group 1:18 model detail/complexity as follows:
EXOTO: Extreme detail, high quality, and the price reflects that. Perhaps the most expensive 1:18 models on the market. No 996's as yet.
MINICHAMPS (PMA): Very high detail and quality, for a reasonable price. They make some unique models, 917/30 917 Pink Pig, 904 Carrera GTS, 906, etc... No 996's as far as I know.
AutoArt: Not as good detail as Exoto or PMA, but still very good detail. Prices are close to PMA models, but AutoArt has a very extensive collection of 996 models to choose from. They have virtually every 996 model available. I would buy AutoArt if you want a quality piece.
UT Models: One step below AutoArt in detail, but the price is significantly cheaper. Some decent 996's (cabs too) that I know of, and they have a very extensive assortment of 993 models available. (if you can track them down)
Maisto: THE best value models. Good quality, excellent price. Much cheaper than AutoArt, a bit cheaper than UT, and still with quality MUCH better than BBURAGO or WELLY. Maisto has some 996C4S models and 996 turbo Cab models of decent detail and quality.
MATTEL: They make a 996 Cab in Yellow and Blue w. hard top. Good Value models, not excellent though. I would still buy one just because they have the Classic chromed Y-spoke wheels.
GATE: Still cheaper and lower quality than Mattel. But not bad. I'd rather buy a Mattel or Maisto or AutoArt model 996, though.
ANSON: Lots of 356 and 964 and 993 models. Not the best quality, but better than BBURAGO. No 996's that I know of.
BBURAGO: Bleh. Don't buy a BBURAGO model unless you're either poor, or can't find the right car from any other manufacturer. Detail is ****, but the prices are low. They are good models to ahve if you're going to but them far enough away so that people cannot look at them up close. BBURAGO makes some 996s and 996 Turbos.
Welly: no comment...

PS, if you REALLY want - I might be able to do some extreme work and try to make your car in 1:18. I see you have some pretty crasy body work and wheels going on there. I can mould the bodywork and paint the model, but I don't know about chroming the wheels. Is price an issue?

Anyone know who makes the model on the Porsche site.
Such as: http://www3.us.porsche.com/shop/prod...C5C7C383230CCF
Looks like the Autoart model, but the price is much lower Autoart. Nothing is ever cheaper via Porsche!

Just ordered the cab from the Porsche site and the Gate model from another.
I'm going to hold back on the impulse to buy one from each manufacturer just to see the differences. (Or at least try hard)
