Default Why the V6?

Why did Porsche decide not to use the flat 6 in its SUVs and the Panamera?

already had a VR6 for the platform of the Cayenne...

Not VR6 block, needed a wider angle to fit under the hood. If building a platform for a V8, it doesn't make sense to rework the front end to accept a flat 6.

Um because a flat 6 is flat. However for front applications you want compact unless you are aiming for the clown shoe look. In which case you go with the flat.
