Greetings from Rockville Md.
I'm 43 and this is my second 911. My first was back in 1996. It was a 1987 Grand Prix white with spoiler package. I daily drove that car for 4 years and sold it to a friend.
I then got into turbo Mopars and E30 M3's but always have kept an eye open for another 911.
Despite my garage being full at the moment with three E30 M3's, one E28 M5, one Shelby GLHS and one Consulier GTP I managed to find room for my latest addition however 2 M3's and the M5 will likely be sold within the next 2 months.
This car was advertised for sale by a very nice gentleman from Culpepper VA, Scott Marsh. I quickly noticed in the ad the engine rebuild receipts.
It costs as much as my parents house back in 1971 and was done by Rennsport Systems in Oregon. The machine work was done by Ollies. The original 2.7 engine dyno'd at a healthy 255hp and 210 + ftlbs torque.
I had been wanting this car from the first time I saw it listed on Ebay. He was asking more than I was willing to give at the time. We stayed in touch, he lowered his price and I made an appt to see the car in person.
The pictures on Ebay showed well but they are just that, pictures. I have sold many a car that took a great picture but upon closer inspection were just average in appearance so I didn't know what to expect.
As soon as he lifted the storage door I knew this car was just as advertised. Everything about the car blew me away. The paint color, the interior, the engine and the wheels.
The paint is just as dynamic in person as it is from the pictures. The Aqua blue was the painters choice and would have been my first choice as well. However Scott was hesitant until the painter painted one of the side mirrors was he only convinced of his selection.
No corners were cut in this car. The rebuild was done by Rennsport Systems in Oregon, the machine work done by Ollies.
What was even better about this car was it's owner. He was as honest and and nice as the day is long. As we drove away from the storage facility I knew this car was coming home with me.
I kept my poker face as long as possible, we quickly agreed to a fair price and off to the bank for a certified check. 2 hours later the car was washed and in my warehouse.
Although I have 4 other track cars, I hope to track this one as well. It will be well used and I'll try to continue to improve upon it where I can.
And so my journey begins with this 1977 2.7 911.

Congratulations on picking up Scott's old car! I saw it posted for sale and was sad to see it go, but it sounds like you will appreciate it just as much as he did.
I know that car was featured on the Rennline Facebook and Instagram pages:

Also, I know Rockville really well! I went to college at McDaniel (formerly Western Maryland
) and spent a ton of time in that area. Even make it down to visit these days every once in a while!

Thanks so much. I grew up outside of Westminister and know WMC very well. My cousin works there.
Do you still live in the Md area?
How do you know Scott and the car? I feel lucky it ended up in my hands, now to install the clear bra to keep the rock chips off
