Default help with buying a 911

hello everyone I am new to the site and new to Porsche. I currently own a Camaro and I am getting into racing, the Camaro which I love is a bit to bulky for the track I am a big muscle guy bit I think it time to part with her. I am going to trade the Camaro in for a Porsche 911. I went this weekend to a Porsche dealer here in Manitoba and tested out a few different models(08 911 c4s manual cabriolet ) and the ( 08 911 c2s coupe auto) they both blew me away with the crazy acceleration/handling and I fell in love with them both. what I took away from the experience is I know I want a coupe and I want manual, I just not sure what model and what year to get the c4s or cs or a turbo, not sure on engine options or what years to stay away from so I thought the best place to ask would be a Porsche forum. My price range is 65k and under. can you guys help me with choosing a good model and year 911 for the track and for cursing around. it will not be a daily driver as I have a truck for that. thanks in advance for the help

I am no expert but I personally would go with a 2009 or newer 911 (unless you're getting a Turbo which doesn't have this issue) because I could not stomach the possibility of my engine nuking and destroying itself (research IMS failure).

i have been doing a bit of research on that not super worried about it, it seems to be only in 5% of cars but I will see if I can find a 2009 and up in my price range

I know what youre saying. I honestly wanted to take my C5 (god I love that car) to the woodshed for not being a 996TT. I ended up buying an 04' - figured start here and go from there....
