I've had the E36 BMW 328i with 5 speed manual transmission for almost 2 years now and I really love the car. It's a nice peppy car with brilliant handling. But it's well over 200,000 miles and since I graduated and got a job recently, I was thinking of getting a better car and my first thoughts were to buy a used Porsche.
I am looking for something less than $30,000 and found that the early 987 Boxster S models with low mileage were within my budget. I wanted to take our opinion on this matter. Do you suggest a 05/06 Boxster S models or the newer 07/08 Boxster base models ? Coming from a 97 BMW 328i what do you recommend me ?

I recommend starting a saving acct, retirement acct, and then looking at a 986 or 987 base model once you're a little more settled after school.
You don't want a big surprise repair bill on a Porsche when you've got just enough budgeted for payments and insurance.
Coming from an E36, you'll have a ton of fun in even a base 986.
