I went forward and picked up my first Porsche, 996 C2, with maintenance dating back to '08. It's nothing super special, but will make for an interesting daily driver.
The only downside to the car is it was parallel parked for a very long time and the bumpers have significant scratches, and the front of the car has lots of paint chips. Something that 90% of the population wouldn't notice, but is annoying to me.
The car has an upgraded IMS and new RMS. But I still don't feel comfortable with the chance of complete destruction if that IMS fails. So I'm going for an LS1 swap to curb those fears and gain some power. I know that purists are totally against it, but then again the '99 996 doesn't get much love anyways.
Current plans;
repair non-sliding moon/sun roof
hardwire V1
figure out how to make bumpers look better
renegade swap
suspension & steering upgrades
find roof rack
