The 25 Greatest Cars
Men's Journal did a survey among automotive journalists, car designers, racers, auto execs, collectors and a couple of rock stars of the 25 greatest of all time.
(SFX: Drumroll)
#1: Porsche 911 (1965-1998)
The write-up began with a Ferry quote I hadn't heard before:
"The only car that can go from an African Safari to Le Mans, then to the theatre, then to the streets of New York."
Later in the write-up it said "the secret to its endurance may be that nothing this weird has ever worked this well or with such versatility."
And for Viken's databank: Total sold -- 348,147 .
BTW, #2 was Ford 18 V-8 (hotrod), #3 Ferrari GTO, 4 ****** Jeep CJ-2A, #5 McClaren F1, #6 Corvette Sting Ray (63-67), Miata was 10, Original Mini 11, 427 Cobra was 13, 360 Spyder 14, MB 300 Gullwing 16 (but pictuired on the cover), MGB (!!!!) was 20, and the current M5 was 24.

1. Why are you reading Men's Journal?
2. As you know, I owned an MGB (GT), vintage 1973. It was slow, had bad brakes, handled poorly, was poorly made, noisy (radio useless over 45 mph), uncomfortable, and did I mention slow? Paid $4,200, 914 2.0 was $5,600. Shoulda bought the 914 2.0. In any case, easy to see why this car is rated higher than an M5.
Mikey, you need to find some new reading material.

Just glanced at RL during lunch at my desk. Back at my post immediately. (Golf game got rained out today) I have a life, honest.
So you're saying that it was research that led you to that great repository of automotive knowledge- all part of the job. I swear, I thought you'd come back and tell me that they had really good articles. That's what you always used to say.

That was Playboy, or was it Cosmo?
