Post Need advice...

I sold a set of 18" Ruf wheels on eBay. The guy I sold them to was very friendly. I had a problem getting the money from my eBay account, because they do not do money transfers to Swiss banks. The buyer suggested that I transfer the money back to him on is eBay account and then he would get it to me. I did this about 6 weeks ago, and he said he have his bank wire the money to me. Since then, I have not received the payment and he has not responded to any of my email messages. I wonder what happened, because he was very friendly and helpful. Did something happen to him? I tried phoning him several times, but no answer (also not easy due to the time zone problem). Any ideas on what I could do? Thanks.

At the risk of sounding like a smartass, if he's got the wheels already, not much. If he doesn't, then formally tell him the deal is off and sell 'em again.

He has the wheels already. Shipped them almost two months ago... Still can't believe this is intentional...

Time to get mean and nasty, 993RS. At this point, 2 months from the time you shipped, I would report this as theft/fraud. Take stock of anything you have to identify the buyer. You shipped those things to him, so there should at the very least be an address.

If it truly is unintentional, an apology and explanation of the kind of world we live in should be acceptable. If he truly isn't paying up, clobber the thief!!!!

Managed to leave a message on his phone answering service today. Still find it hard to believe a member of the Porsche community would be acting intentionally like this... He was very friendly, and we exchanged at least 20 emails. He did make the payment on eBay. Strange...

Ebay would have a record of the persons mailing address, send him a registered letter demanding payment. Contact e-bay, they may be able to help in some way, if not then maybe a P-car owner who lives near the deadbeat may possess excellent "negotiating " skills can convince him to pay up. lol

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
Sounds like he not entirely honest. As soon as he has the wheels and the money you are no longer able to get hold of him - suspicious.
Either there is a coinciental reason for no response or he is deliberately not responding.
After this length of no contact I think that the latter is more likely.
Name and shame him/her.
Save the rest of us from making the same mistake.

I am not accusing the guy of theft. I really can not believe that a friendly guy could be deliberately doing this. Something must have happened. All I know is that Frank D. in Brea California is not responding to email or messages left on his phone since about 7 weeks. Because of the time zone difference, it is not easy for me to contact him.

Frank Desmarais in Brea California. Hmmmmmm. I don't know the guy, but he should know by now that he has a couple of dollars he shouldn't have. Anyone who is NOT a thief would try to figure out where he needs to give it to.

Maybe he is due for a "tune-up". There are three PCA regions that a member from Brea CA would fall into. He might be a member, or might participate in a PCA event under one of these regions.

Is he a Porsche owner? There are several local PCA members who are "mechanically inclined" and very "persuasive" when it comes to "tune-ups".

You might have been contacted by these people already. Send me an email with the auction # and other information about this person.
