Post Early 911 side mirrors to late Aero mirros

I was wondering if anyone has upgrade their early 911 to aero side mirrors. My question is about the wiring. I was told it was an easy install. The mirrors look good. This upgrade make this hot on my priority list!

OK, I just upgraded to teardrop Porsche '95 Aero's. My car is an 82. I was told wiring was easy! But, reality set in and I wasted nearly a day trying different wiring combinations to no avail....Help! Now my rear defog is my left mirror adjustment....lol. I need the correct wiring conversion for 95 Aero mirrors to 82 Euro 911SC

Frank,

If you have the Porsche Parts and Technical Reference catalog for 911's, on page 87 they show the 1992 "aero" style mirror kits. There are two: For 1987-1989 (catalog only covers to 1989) the kit says "911 electric". However, for 1973-1986, it says "911 manual". Kit number is 964.731.901.02. I would look into that kit as perhaps it may do what you want. If you don't currently have a passenger side mirror, there is a picture in the catalog with the measurements. Oh, and the small print on the mirror kit says "painting is required to match color of car"

i recently swapped my earlier mirrors for teardrops, Very Happy with them now.
A couple of points, i bought a replica set to start with(they required me drilling holes and didnt fit all that good!)so i took them off and hurried off down to porsche to buy a real set. Much easier and far better quality, even the wiring was easy! Only difficult bit was fitting the spring on the original mirrors, I popped back to the dealers who kindly did it for me
BTW my car is a 1990 C4, so with the original set installation took about 1 hour as no drilling was required.

Dear Frank,
I cannot help you with a wiring diagram because I only have the 964 however I can tell you what you have done.
These mirrors are heated. The heating circuit is activated by the rear window demister being activated. Now back in 1982 you may not have had heated mirrors. I suggest based on your words that you have hooked up the motor drives to the rear window demister which should be the heater circuit. Of course all this is based on your post. I hope I have not misunderstood. What I suggest you do is to check which wires are hooked to the motors. You should be able to sort this out using a multimeter,
Ciao,
