From what I understand the 951 isnt nearly as bad as a S or S2 about the mat. and it still handles great And get one for 6-7K and stick 3k in mat. or upgrades and you'll have one hell of a car!

I too echo others on making sure the previous owner(s) have taken good care of which ever car you decide. Is $10K the absolute max you'd consider? Before I bought my 928S I was looking strickly at 944s at around $7K - 8K. However, they were all poorly maintained. When I decided to bump up my price range, I found my current beauty. She had meticulous record and documentation, and the POs were absolute **** (the best kinds of POs). Yes, I had to put in new engine and transimission mounts, but all together it was still a fair market price. Happy hunting.

take your time, search regularly and nationally on rennlist, autotrader, cars.com, pca sites, anywhere for a 911 until you find the one you've been dreaming of. if you're patient enough, the perfect car will present itself. i bought my 84 911 for $9800. the guy sold it on the cheap because the synchros in 2nd gear are starting to fade. otherwise the car is perfect. everyone who's in the know tells me the same thing "you stole that car." you can do the same...if you're patient.
