Just wondering if you need to take the entire bumper off to remove/replace this part, or is there an easier way?

Porche makes a number of different cars with many styles of bumper. What Don meant was what car and year are you asking about. Also what you call a "bumper covering srtip" might be well known to others as something else...

Sorry for the confusion. I have a 1980 911 Targa - the part I am referring to is called the "front bumper "smile"" - it is the piece of molding that runs the length (and sits on top of) of the bumper and the hood partially closes on top of it.

I know how the part is connected through the hood, it is the areas underneath the headlights which is causing me problems. Just wondering if anyone has ever replaced this part, and if so, how did they unfasten the ends underneath the headlights - do I need to take the whole bumper off??

Thanks
