Post RUF-Porsche 993 BTR2 is this a good deal? Help!

Hi y'all Mike at Prospeed told me to join and ask everyone for their advice. I have a Corvette Z06 and I auto-x with the PCA over here. A heavily modified by Ruf 993 has just come up for sale for $49.5K and I'm thinking of getting it. I will test drive this weekend and then be able to post more details. For now it is low mileage, still has the Porsche VIN, entire front suspension and brakes, wheels are Ruf, engine, turbo, and computer is Ruf; Recaro seats, Blaupunkt w/2 amps & 10 speakers, sun roof, all maintainance at Ruf factory. Here is the link: http://www.pca-gr.de
Just go to the classified section and tell me what you think, thanks for your help

I am a big RUF fan - they seem to do things right the first time. If all the work has been carried out by RUF, and the car has been well maintained/treated then this should be a very high performance vehicle for very little money.

I would look carefully at the history, and investigate how much the insurance might cost - that could be a deal breaker. Bear in mind also that maintenance on a car like this might be expensive. Think of the long term cost of ownership!

Insurance is the same as the Z06, no biggie there. I will find out what Ruf specific parts it has this weekend. Thanks

Looks nice. Is it registered for europe/Germany already? If not it might proove difficult to get it done and that might expplain the low price.

Good luck

I forgot to mention it's US spec, you can see the US bumpers and US NATO plate in the photos.

Hey, I was a CPT in Germany--a very very long time ago. There were only 7 members in the PCA Germany Region at that time. I also had one of RUFs first modified 911SCs which I bought used. However, keep in mind that every Porsche in Germany is VERY used and could be very tired. I would not touch the car without a very thorough inspection. In the US, one might take a 993 up to 100+ mph for a few minutes at a time. In Germany, they drive 100+ whenever they can for as long as they can. Good luck and have fun.

I have it on good authority that it is a one owner car, never raced, hardly auto-xed, and maintained by Ruf. I will double check the VIN and with Ruf.

...for the curious, this is what he is talking about:

It has a US title and would have no problem (except customs costs - about 10%) converting to German papers.

Guys, it's US spec and I'm bringing it to the states. I'm a US citizen. Yes that is the car, now my original question was, is this a good deal?

This a a 993 with a bunch of RUF parts, correct? The pieces parts are expensive on their own and if the guys over at RUF tweaked the suspension as well then it should be a real tight car. I guess yuo need to ask yourself if you think it's worth $49500. In the end it doesn't matter what anyone on these boards think since it's your money. It's a sharp car but a little pricey IMHO. Of course a co-worker of mine has two 'vettes and wouldn't trade them for anything.

But I have been on the lookout for a nice 911/964/993 that's priced right for about a year now. Been close, real close before the wife shot the deal down. I need to sell my 944 before getting a new p-car.

Craig you're right about the money, I'm just trying to figure out a baseline worth. Is this car really worth 20K more than a standard 993? After I drive it and get the detailed list of parts I'll post again.
