Santa Cruz/ Bay Area Mobile Mechanic or Knowledgable Enthusiest
I am looking at a '71 911 s and ma looking for some help in getting a PPI. The current owner won't let me take it to a mechanic because he says he doesn't have insurance on it. I drove the car and looked it over but I don't know everything I should be looking for. Does anyone no someone that would be willing to inspect the car to see if its worth buying. Also, how effective is a PPI without putting it on the lift? What bad stuff could I miss?
Thanks

If you were able to drive it, why not to a PPI? You also might be covered by your own insurance. I am not in the SC area but someone will chime in with some shops in the area Im sure. Check with the local PCA Chapter also. If he really wont let you take it in for a PPI, I would keep looking. Early cars non-galv can have alot of hidden problems. Dont ask me how I know.
Good luck

Dan, thanks for the help. Yeah, it unfortunate that the seller wasn't flexible but it sounds as though he had a hidden agenda. I will just have to continue my search.

Don't forget Santa Cruz is right on the ocean. I knew somebody who had a Rabbit that was only a couple years old when she bought it, and a few years later it was riddled with rust.
