Post California emissions testing

There is a slim chance that I may move from the midwest to SoCal. I have a question about emissions testing. Is there an age limit for cars where they are not tested or phased standards? The reason I ask is I have a grey market 83 911 SC and have no idea what its current performance is. I was just curious what the deal was before I head west. Thanks for the info!

Go to: <a href="http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dmv.htm" target="_blank">http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dmv.htm</a>

That is the direct link to the home page of the California DMV. Just search the site.

Sorry, your car is too young, as far as I know, to fall under the "Grandfather" clause by a few years. It will have to be smogged.

You could also ask other people from So. Cali, I'm afraid I just don't know. When I brought my'85 in from Oklahoma, I had to have the car depowered by about 10%, to meet and pass smog emissions.
